What these highlights didn't show is when Scottie dislocated two fingers when he fell on a drive in the first half. They had to pop his fingers right back in and tape'em up. Dude was a warrior.

@@JoseOrtiz-fc7mj I disagree I think pippen was out of his prime in 96 the year they won 72 games.. Pippen had major back surgery after his rookie season. And a ton of other injuries too. He had another back surgery before going to Houston in the off season. Pippen in Portland had more miles on him than the entire lakers starting 5. Yet he still took a 67 win Lakers team to a game 7 kobe was in his 4th season so he wasn't that young. Had it not been for horrible coaching by Dunleavy and the refs giving the Lakers a ton of calls . Pippen probably wins his 7th ring, the blazers were poorly coached extremely dysfunctional and old

Just a year before, the Blazers blew a 20 pt lead in the 2nd half one game 2 1999 WCF vs the SA Spurs. Refs conspired against the Blazers, allowing Lakers to foul and hack and then calling ticky tack fouls on Blazers. Blazers were the 2000 champs. And 2 years later the Sacramento Kings were robbed and should have been the champs.

That was an old Pippen coming from the late 80's where pushing and punching was part of the defense strategy for every team. Beside been hurt, passing a surgery, he still showing class in the NBA. I was always expecting to see Scottie and Kobe in the same team but that transfer unfortunately never occurred

It scary that Kobe was 1st team all defense but Pippen was giving it to him... Also the way Pippen was disrupting things one would wonder whether he was that good or it was because he understood the triangle that the Lakers were using under Phil Jackson. Scottie was holding his own with Kob which is pretty serious considering the fact that we’ve seen Kobe clamp down on world class players like Bron, Kyrie, Kawhi, etc. Just goes to show certain players can play in any era. I think Scottie would still be killing it today, his offensive ability would blossom in todays nba. Not to mention his defensive ability being able to guard players from 1 through 4, pretty special. I really think he would give teams fits today like he did back then.

I agree. The mid 80s and 90s players was to me talent in matchable. They were influenced by the early greats and respected and honored the torch passed to them. Now days there is no torch passed on. He's preparing to take a charge from Kobe and at the same time covering Kobe's forward passing lanes. Dude sees everything on the court. See how he retreated slowly going backwards at the same time turning his head left and right gauging the position of shaq and fisher spacing forward, and then he planted his feet inviting a charge while spreading both his hands ready for a high pass or a low pass. Kobe saw it and tried to make the pass instead of charging right in, but Pippen was ready for it. You don't really notice all these tiny details when watching the game in real time.

Pippen to me was better than his Portland teammates. He carried the team in the finals and was very unselfish. His IQ of knowing what his teammates could and couldn’t do was in his mind and he stepped up. Steve Smith would be second to him in Portland. Funny how Damon was trying to be Scottie’s Robin and Scottie utilized Shrempfs talent with unbelievable passes

Scottie had too many knuckleheads around him, and he wasn't really the #1 Scorer type ever in his career, although he could do it when necessary and he almost always put up points..........in the final game against the Lakers later on, they needed a #1 scorer to step up, when everyone was choking.

I agree but his athleticism isn’t. Scottie put power in his play. His way was beautiful to watch. His lay ups, dunks and dribble can’t be copied. He knew how to utilize speed and his IQ was astounding! He knows the talent and limitation of the opponent which he may have picked up practicing with MJ. He can dictate the plays and read the offense movement like Magic. His Air time is his own which is a Dr. J school of flying. All rhythm, balance, and class.
