Love the analysis of Scottie's swing

Despite his unconventional trail foot, there’s something to learn from it on transferring the weight to the lead side. In order for the trail foot to move in that manner the weights gotta be in the lead side.

It’s that in combination with him almost jumping AWAY from the ball like it’s gonna bite him. I’m assuming when he was little he heard “don’t early extend” and he sort of misinterpreted it as jump away from the ball. (Instead of the modern squat and turn) But I think that’s the secret sauce with his swing in combination with the huge lateral shift
@Kinny2023 ай бұрын
He just throws his torso forward and left - but without any tension, just lets it fall in that direction - and the release of his backswing acts as a counterbalance He commits to it so much that if he doesn’t let his arms fall and swing through, he’d fall to the ground Dude is literally weightless on his feet through the swing Once he loads up in his back swing, everything is loose as the throws his torso front and left Crazy that he’s confident enough to use this in tournaments

i have no clue how this guy doesnt either whiff shank or yip half his shots with feet going all over the place like that. truly incredible.
@prorobo Жыл бұрын
It’s because they aren’t going all over the place until after impact.

I actually do that foot thing... I was trying to get rid of it because i thought it was hurting me but i guess not... It does ruin the shoes pretty fast though

That finish is going to wreak havoc on his left knee and ankle. YIKES
@chuckross883917 күн бұрын
Nope , Scottie will not have knee issues or ankle . They are free and fully safe . Best swing on Tour . Not since Mike Austin has there been the correct shift of the core that defines the Gift of swing .

Just from the small sample I’ve watched (Scotty/Rory/Rahm) I noticed they all square the trail foot but flare out the lead foot and I wonder what that promotes, why not flare out both feet.
@prorobo Жыл бұрын
Prevents hip over-rotation on the backswing.
@kakimotoK20 Жыл бұрын
Wasn’t that the standard stance forever? I tried flaring the trail recently because my instructor, but I saw no benefit and I’d have to get use to looking at it so I opted out

Rhythm and tempo have nothing to do with balance and center of gravity.
