Also next to the Sitooterie is a superb family run convenience store. Stock most things as well as a Post Office. Shop local keeps the investments in the area. We always shop in locally owned shops when away rather than nationals. By the way a great video.

Great wee write up for my lovely Gairloch, Sands is also fab for locals, a shop that also is great for locals, can always pick up that wee gift, odd ingredient or that thing, we didn’t know we needed, till we visited! By the way… recipe looked fab…. But heck! What was your poor wife getting for tea?? Hopefully she was I. The restaurant eating cake!! 😍

Lots of good memories of my younger days of family camping holidays at Big Sands in the 1960's. It all still looks very familiar and as you say the beach goes on forever.

Looks delicious Cameron!! Gairloch is very close to my heart and Sands is a fantastic campsite. My great great grandfather Torquil Paterson was the Free Church of Scotland minister in Gairloch. Lived in Aultgrishan on a croft across the road from the old pub at Melvaig, which was originally the meeting hall for FCS Great entertaining video as always Sir 👌 Thank you 🙏

Love this place, we were there last week celebrating our golden wedding with a meal in the Barn, after a lovely walk on that beach. Have been several times before and hope it never changes.

The Gairloch Museum is well worth a visit and has a great café. The GALE centre also has agreat community run café and there is a good farm shop nearby. I love that area - so many interesting things in the area. the Arctic Convoy Centre at Aultbea and of course Inverewe Gardens. Aultbea is also home to Ritchies, makers of the BEST blackpudding ever. You're quite the 'coding bleu' chef with your Ridgemonkey. They really are the best ever camping accessory.

Another fantastic video. Top tip, use the lid of the tuna tin to press down and squeeze all the brine out. I'm going to try that omelette next time I'm out in the van. Looks really good.

Hi Cameron, how about a mention for the excellent “Gairloch Holiday Park” behind the Hotel in the Village which is only £14 for a Camper and driver with spotless showers included and no rush to leave in the morning. They do however charge extra for passengers.

Hi, Gairloch one of our favourite places, nice to see it again. i have to make a decision soon on whether to go for pop top or retro fitted high top on VW 6.1, i would prefer a hightop, have u had many issues on having the high top on ur van (thinking height barriers in highland/forestry car parks)? thanks
@CameronMcNeishOutdoors3 ай бұрын
No, I've not really had any issues. My thinking was simple. After owning two pop tops in a row I came to the conclusion that increasingly windy and stormy weather made pop tops almost unusable at certain times of the year.
