My son is now 36, married with three children. He got into so much trouble while in high school with drinking and pot (while maintaining an average GPA of 94). The police always released him to me without charges. I told him the next time the police called me I would have them arrest him. Sure enough he was caught by the police again and I told them to take him in. After his sophomore year in college (with straight A's) he dropped out and joined the army. I was floored. But, his sergeant told me he was a natural leader. He was medically retired as a Staff Sergeant in 2016 after an IED blast took parts of his legs. It's absolutely true that the ones who give us grey hair turn out the best!

Wouldn't surprise me if you had actually passed the test. The recruiters from each branch work with each other to help fill needed MOS positions. The same thing happened to me when I went in to test for the AF. They said I didn't score high enough to be an air craft mechanic, but instead of recommending a different AF position, they sent me to the Army recruiter. The Army recruiter looked at my test and asked if I wanted to be a "real bada$$". ( They know how to appeal to young bucks testosterone levels lol). So he showed me the video on a 13F and said the same speech on seeing the world and learning a trade, making friends and being in a COHORT unit etc.. So I signed up. However, my recruiter did state the at the time, a 13F life expectancy was 20 seconds. I don't regret it a bit, but for those trying to get into a certain branch and you get sent to another branch, they are just trying to fill in needed positions throughout the entire military as well as helping individual recruiter's quotas.
