yep that one was a couple days off from being peak ripeness. I used to have peach trees in my yard and the squirrels were terrible at eating them before i could. they'd come right up on the front deck and sit in front of my picture window and eat them right in front of me. And yes I'm a Georgian.

My roommate says his grandparents lived in Georgia and they would bring back bushels of peaches every trip. The roadside stand was in the middle hundreds of acres of peach trees and everyone who stopped was given a free peach to eat right there. Warm from the sun and bursting with juice he said they were sooooo good your eyes would roll back after the first bite. You just missed the second oldest city in America on your drive south to florida. NO, the oldest city in the USA is not Plymouth Massachusetts, which most people think. Nope, It is St.Marys Ga, a little coastal town tucked away in the southeast corner of the state. You just passed it driving down 95 over the Florida/Georgia state line. St.Augustine Florida is the oldest city in the USA. St.Marys Georgia is where the war of 1812 ended. Also, home to kingsbay Naval Submarine base. Beautiful coastal community with live oaks and Spanish moss. Lovely place. Lived there for 30 years. We are now retired and bought a home up in the beautiful Georgia mountains. Blessings!

Saint Augustine is the oldest European city in America. There are cities out west that are older. A couple of them. Other than Saint Augustine pretty much the oldest city in the south is Charleston. Or Beaufort. And they are more historic than anything in Georgia. And South Carolina is a big military state in Georgia grows more peaches than Georgia and we have mountains and beaches, etc. as well. @@easystreetwithjen Unless you’re sick, why would you care? I wouldn’t want to live anywhere near that shit hole city known as Atlanta. You could also get some type of rare condition where even Atlanta didn’t have a specialist. That’s kind of a weird arbitrary reason to live near a city. I live in Charleston and we have some amazing doctors. Atlanta? Never. Jacksonville? Never. It’s not so bad around Charlotte, but I’d never live anywhere that wasn’t on the water. I missed the part where he said indigenous people. There’s no such thing. Back when humans first started we were closer to having one big continent. The continents drafted mankind crew and expanded in migrated. Back then there was no such thing as Africa. It was just part of another big piece of geography. we are all immigrants. We are all nomads. People like that. Have never read a history book. They don’t understand that there wasn’t even people in northern and South America until the last Ice Age. They probably don’t even know that horses weren’t here until the Spanish brought them. Spanish, Portuguese, brown people that actually killed about 90% of the indigenous people with small pox long before white Europeans got here. Most people don’t even realize that indigenous people even in the 1500s had no idea what a wheel was. In fact, most cultures around the world couldn’t figure out the wheel, whereas other cultures had it for thousands of years. Then again most people still think Civil War was about slavery. So much of what we’re taught in school is lies and propaganda.

Fun facts: South Carolina produces more peaches than Georgia. And the peach water tower shown in House of Cards is a real thing in Gaffney, near the revolutionary war battlefield of Cowpens. If you visit the panhandle of Florida (roughly Pensacola to Tallahassee), you should go to Floribama. Mediocre bar food, but it’s akin to going to Buccees: get some swag to prove you have been there. It’s a large beachfront bar complex on the Florida/Alabama line.

I was born and raised in SC and I've been to Cowpens, but I don't remember the water tower. This was over 20 years ago though. Best peaches in SC are from a big farm in McBee, SC. Also, about the only place I remember around Pensacola was Fuddpuckers restaurant.

She said no,but she said she had been in a few movies. After she left he walked back over to his buddies. They asked if he knew who he had talked to and he said no. Even from the stands a lot of the time its stuff bought from the farmers market. We have them all over around here especially if you are heading north out of town for all the tourists to stop at on there way back up north from down here at the beach. Stuff they are selling could be grown in FL wherever and bought from a farmers market. Unless the stand is right in front of a farm but even then they can buy from farmers market to resell. I love yellow watermelons and they aren't the easiest thing to find. I get them every now and then probably not grown here in SC who knows but man are they good

Peaches hold a somewhat similar place in American hearts that Mangos do in Southern India. Peaches are slightly easier and a little less messy to eat, but can be just as delicious, unpretentious, and egalitarian in spirit as mangos. Both can be eaten neatly with the right utensils and a little skill, but to paraphrase my late Uncle, Colonel Lingus (USMC), "the best way to enjoy it is to just get in there ...if you dont get a little messy, then you aint havin enough fun". Wise words. 😜

They were the sweetest, juiciest fruit you could imagine with amazing flavor. They can't be shipped to grocery stores that way or they'd be nothing but mush by the time they got there. Unfortunately what is shipped to grocery stores might as well be made of wax.
