Thank you for a most Interesting and very well presented video of Uniform History for those famed Regiments. As a veteran (1966 - 1978) from South Africa my Regiment. The First Battalion Transvaal Scottish (now since 1995 the Solomon Mahlangu Regiment) were affiliated to the Atholl Highland Regiment, we wore their tartan, albeit with the unique khaki Tam O` Shanter with Red Hackle, as our connection to the Gordon Highlanders. Our brothers of Second Battalion donned the Glengarry. Both marched to the tune - March of the Atholl Highlanders.

Sir Peter is a delightful person and when he turned up to various Gordon Highlander Association events, he knew everyone by name. Proud to have worn several tartans and capbadges mentioned here.

I always liked the Balmoral and the Kilmarnock, beret-like bonnets in general. When I'm not required to be in band uniform, my Glengarry is never on my head.

When I came up in the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada, we wore the traditional blue balmoral with the blue hackle. I loved wearing that. They have all switched to now wearing the glengarry, which I hate, but then to add insult to injury, wear the blue hackle with the glengarry which looks, imho, ridiculous. I personally have never liked the glengarry. I also notice that feather bonnets have gotten MUCH bigger of late.

Lovely photo of the 78th Highlanders on the screen shot at the beginning of the video. This reenactment programme is/was from Halifax Citadel National Historic Site, in Nova Scotia. Photo is from mid ‘90s whilst on tour of Highland Games in the USA. Photo looks to be from Estees Park, CO. Uniforms are historically accurate and rifles used were original Snider Enfield and fired regularly. Depending on the year I may have been in this square.
