Great Scottish tries from the likes of John Beattie, Jim Renwick and Andy Irvine.... and of course the sounds of the 80's

Players are so proud of achieving the grand slam, it lives with them forever. It's because it's very difficult to do and requires a very polished side.

Was at Murrayfield for both the England and France matches. I was just a schoolboy, and at the latter match was surrounded by a large group of French supporters as I'd not been able to find my folks (in the Red Terrace). When the final whistle went they very graciously turned to me and shook my hand (before heading off to the pubs in town!).

I was named after Euan Kennedy. My father tried to Name me Finlay (Calder), David (Sole), Anthony (Stanger) and many others from the 1990 GS, but my mother was having none of it. Dad decided to go back a few years earlier for a name - my mum hadn’t heard of Euan Kennedy 😂

Absolutely fantastic video. Great choice of music, great memories too from my youth. Scotland's first slam in fifty years if I remember rightly. Really well put together too, well done! Slàinte

Quinefan Also, it occurs to me that in my head I still think of the 1990 slam as if it were yesterday. The day when Scotland overcame Carling's England side is etched in my memory as firmly as the day that my first son was born - despite the fact that, in the former case, more alcohol was consumed throughout the remainder of the day than my limited physique ought ever to have been subject to. To this day my liver bears the scars of that day. But that was now 30 years ago! It seems like yesterday to me and yet the Scottish slam half-life is still only half baked. If I have to wait another 29 years I will. It is plausible although whether my doctor would deem it feasible without numerous lifestyle changes is questionable. Let's just hope for a statistical anomaly meanwhile! Slàinte

if the shorts were so short and tight in the 1980s does that mean they were revealing for the fun of 'it'
@robertroberts26664 жыл бұрын
The soundtrack could have been more appropriate eg Bay City Rollers, Proclaimers, Cocteau Twins, Exploited etc amongst Scotland's finest musical talents and all around in the 80's

Freddie Mercury is exactly the right accompaniment to Scotland's iconic 1984 Grand Slam triumph over France ;))

The music was great; pity the rugby commentary spoilt it, lol.

Now THIS was rugby worth watching! The modern game is becoming boring, formulaic, pre-set and somewhat predictable.
