Part one of our six day sea Kayaking trip down the West Coast of Skye.
This video covers from Dunvegan to Loch Bracadale and Harlosh, taking in the infamous Neist point and the superb Macleod`s Maidens sea stacks. This is a stunning piece of coast, with amazing cliffs, caves, natural arches, sea stacks and idyllic camp spots, it offers sea kayaking to rival anything in the UK.

I love Sea kayaks, and seeing you guys plan a camping trip, with the beautiful ocean. Fully packed with all you need including safety gear, and equipment for your kayaks. I have a 12 ft, 4k dollar kayak. With the factory trolling motor, and a small motor on my rudder. Electronics, USB chargers, lithium batteries, and all I ever need if I were stranded on an island. Shelter, first aid, water , food, communication, and always do a 3 day fishing trip with friends. So many people go out with no maps, gps, signal devices, lights. Everything you need to survive. It'll happen to everyone. Beautiful trip and video. I Really enjoyed it!.Stay safe my friends.

I’m curious about that period of history as my ancestors left Scotland in about 1831. I’d like to better understand their motivation for leaving. I have read a little about enclosure and I thought that that might have been part of it. Very interesting.

Bruce Fummey tells the story well on his youtube channel Scotland History Tours - look for Skye Crofters Wars in the playlists. There are also videos about the Highland Clearances and about Scots in Canada, giving other parts of the story. I also recommend Andy Wightman's book "The Poor Had No Lawyers" which describes in detail how landowners came to own millions of acres across Scotland, including on the Isle of Skye, that had been held in common.

Hi, yea 3mph average isn't rushing, but were not trying to, as you say lots to see. Re spare paddle, its fairly standard procedure to carry one on such a trip, I've never needed it, but I have seen paddles get broken. The dry suits we wear keep us fairly dry, but just a touch damp from persperation

@@getwet501 Where did you get drinking water?

Hi, we always carry enough water for a few days and top up as needed from streams, its part of the planning process to identify water sources or lack of. Carrying four days water isnt a problem

I guess it depends where you live, I would start with a google search for your locality

Thank you, and yes I agree. Getting the balance right isn't easy, and it also sounds very different on different devices. This was an early effort with commentary, hopefully Im getting a bit better on more recent trip videos

Thanks, yea I agree. Getting the balance right is tricky. Also, it sounds very different on different devices, which doesn't help! It's fine on my PC, but not on my phone

I did the math at 00:09. You show us a spot that correspond to 1/120 000 of the surface of the earth. That's racist ! ;-)

@@martin.feuchtwanger thanks, yes, a valid point. Getting the siund balance right isnt that easy, it sounds different on different devices and seems to change when its uploaded to U tube. This vid was an early attempt at commentary, and I didnt want the voice to dominate, but agree it comes over a bit low on utube. Cheers

I would agree about the music. Nice but too loud, drowns your voice and unnecessary anyway. Also,, would suggest showing map of the day first rather than after. And next time invite me! Fab vids. We'll done ✔️

Thank you. Yea I agree with comments re the music, it was an early attempt at a voice over, and that balance wasn't right, not that easy to get right as it sounds different on different devices, it sounds fine on my PC where I edited, but not on U Tube... more recent efforts are better I think? Cheers

C'est un peu mou. Un trip sympa, mais du gros temps rencontré aurait donné du pep's a la video.

Great video, except I'd have liked more natural bird, wind/water, and conversational sounds--rather than monotonous piano tinkling.

Thanks for the input, I do understand, indeed its hard to get it right for everyone. Heavy breathing picked up by the mouth mounted camera, a squeeky paddle noise (wet skin on the paddle shaft) and very boring conversations do detract from the natural sound and steer me towards adding some form of music
