Susan was beautiful in 1984, and I think that she's still beautiful now. I'm glad that she kept going to Karioke Clubs to sing and also practiced singing at home before the mirror all these years. All of that, plus the few singing lessons she had briefly over a 2-year period, have been used by the Lord to make her the BGT Tour Finalist that she has just concluded at Bournemouth on Sunday, July 5th, 2009. I love that Susan remains authentically the same person with whom we fell in love Apr 12

This video was a great find. Its really interesting to see what Susan looked like back in the 80s. She was actually a pretty good looking girl ! :-) Its no surprise that she performed well back then too. It would seem that she's always had talent but simply never got a break... until now. I think her voice has become even better. Its really great that after all this time, she now has the chance to do something with her talent. Thank God it didn't pass her by. She deserves her opportunity.
@sarahlaslett32793 жыл бұрын
Yes I for one am sick of people talking about her appearance. In this clip she has a trim figure with a tiny waist and a pretty face! The years took their toll as she spent many of them looking after her mother until her mother's passing. By the time she reached middle age she did not have make up know-how or dress sense. But soon after her overnight success she had help with make up, hair styling and clothes and she has often looked pretty again. One poor presentation with her first public appearance and she has rarely been allowed to live it down. All I can is please stop it.

How she went unnoticed all those years I'll never know. There are few true vocal talents with crystalline voices. Mariah Carey, Celine, Whitney Houston (before the crack), Jewel (not the strongest voice but she sounds like an angel and sings in a unique way), and now Susan Boyle. She is a rare gem of vocal purity. I'm glad she got to experience her dream.

You would be surprized at how many wonderful singers there are in the world who never get noticed... For some reason the media seams to prefer mediocre singers with digitally enhanced voices.

Rod Sena I agree there's many talented singers out there! I know I sang in a choir and always stood next to one that was absolutely amazing yet hidden in the crowd. Great for Susan she finally made it. Today is all about fake looks and fake singing, autotune.
@Melissa07749 жыл бұрын
9890jsp Yeah, you'd think she would have went to college for performing arts or something, and then moved to London or even New York to try and make it on the theater scene. But that's not so easy to do for someone with Asperger's, especially if it's undiagnosed.
@macmcleod11888 жыл бұрын
+9890jsp I think her first performance on BGT was amazing not only because of the contrast between her voice and her looks but also because it was filled with 27 years of emotion. She has a beautiful voice and has recorded a lot of songs and sang this song again- but in that one unique performance her feelings were shining thru the song in her voice in ways that made people involuntarily smile, cry, and feel very kind which a purely polished professional version might not have done.
@kdna69325 жыл бұрын

People these days are too worried about how he or she looks. Well, the truth of the matter is you can be beautiful on the outside but if you are ugly on the inside it shows in more ways than I can count. I would rather have more copies of Susan Boyle than of the other type of person, the world would be a better place to live if we each showed more compassion and love to each other.

I think what makes this moment so beautiful is how her voice controlled the room. It starts off with her squeezing between seats in a plain white outfit lookin like a butcher, in a bustlin, loud, low-ceiling room. And lets be honest, she's not a turn-heads-and-stop-time type of beautiful. Even if she does look beautiful in this video. She gets on stage. Gets familiar with the band and starts singing. People hush to be polite. But once she lets out that holy voice at :33 the room gets silent. Quick. An "oh shit" moment. After that she encapsulates that room with feels. Like the room was leaking beauty. Being a true entertainer from the people to the people she has a moment with a member of the audience 1:38 The gold background supports her shine. And so does the band playing those funky riffs. She ends the song on a sweet melody 3:06 that I wanted to keep hearing. The room erupts in applause while she modestly gets off stage. Not knowing what the future has in store. When the question of "What would you do with a time machine?" comes up. I think of this time and space.

One of the best things about Susan's vocalizations is that she FEELS the music and lyrics. Even as an obvious amateur in this clip, she magically - and genuinely - brings you into her inner world as she interprets the words of a song. You can see that in her eyes. llk

Believe it. My dad has been a professional singer for over three decades. He's retired now but performed the club (Working Men's/Social Clubs, not nightclubs) circuits for years and years. At LEAST as good as Susan Boyle yet never had his chance. In his 60s now with arthritis which forced him to retire (along with decline of the club circuits) he never had his real shot. Unfortunately there's a lot of true talent that goes ignored nowadays.

I was there that night. I remember thinking that Susan was a bit of a tiger. I thought to myself, "y'know, under the correct circumstances, you could make it big", and I explained to an incredulous Boyle that a modern format of television, a sort of wider-reaching Opportunity Knocks type show might recognise her talent. Susan was not pleased when i told her it would take about 20 years for this format of television to be realised.

Her voice is so good here to bad she didn't get to use all these years making records for us to enjoy. But when you are just a normal person you don't know how to go about getting it in to the business. Without help it's hard to do. This is why we are finding great singers now is because of shoes like BGT AGT Idol from all over the world and even the voice but not so much there they don't get the help like Idol and BGT and AGT and other parts of the world. I'm glad we have found her now she can share her voice with us all.It really nice to have heard you Susan you are a wonderful person and so down to earth don't change who you really are. Because if you do you will never be happy. Live in our old house have the new one to intertain in keep your old home for your self and family and dear friends to you. To help you stay the way you was meant to be friendly and nice but your own person.
