In 1984 (before email) I hand wrote a letter to Ruger and mailed it (with a postage stamp and everything) and they replied to me within 10 days with a written letter addressing my concerns. First gun I ever bought and I am still pleased with their service.

I just emailed Ruger about my max 9. I had a cheap holster that I think had some chemicals that mixed with my sweet chewed through the finish on my slide. I was super honest and said I understand if it’s not covered but that I was pretty disappointed that it happened after less than a year. They sent me a new slide no problem patching both ways, and had me send the old one back, with no credit hold or anything. I was shocked and grateful
@scottmorgan10165 ай бұрын
Wow that's great. I would never thought they would do that, that's customer service. I had that happen to a security 9 yrs back. Wished I tried that also. I carry my max9 everyday. Really like the pistol, I have shot say 900 to a 1000 rds thru mine and all have been my reloads except for carry ammo and it's worked great. So glad you got a new slide that's cool. Thanks for watching

Just ordered a Ruger Max-9. I sent my Canik MC9 to be repaired and took about a month. When I got it the paperwork showed their gunsmith fixed it three days after it arrived. Mail on May 29th arrive May 31st. Fixed on Jun 3rd and then sent back to me on June 29th and arrived July 3rd. Good thing I was home because they didn't even email me to let me know the mailed it to me. FedEx was knocking an my door and I signed for the box and it was my pistol. Took it to the range and 70 rounds in it started having issues again. Sold it the next day.
@scottmorgan1016 Жыл бұрын
Wow on the Canik. That's what has me worried about mine. Might be looking into selling mine. And I hope your Max9 works great. Mine shot perfectly, it was just the little door for take down. But as I said their customer service is excellent. That's what I want when dealing with getting my guns fixed. Thanks for watching
@nooneisme71585 ай бұрын
Yes, I've seen some who have got it foxed correctly which requires a new frame that is thicker to hokd internals in place that are causing the issue and sometimes they merely take it apart and realign the internal springs... which I have done myself in 10 min and is not a fix. I believe I will sell mine also even if it does get fixed properly, I wouldn't trust my life with it.

After 400 rounds through mine I am having the exact same issues. I'll be taking the pistol back to the shop I bought it from and sending it to Ruger for repairs and hopefully it doesn't happen again. Glad to know their customer service is better than their quality control.
@scottmorgan10167 ай бұрын
Sorry it happened to you. I almost didn't send mine in cause I don't think it will stop the action. My concern was if in holster and some how the pin falls out. Thier service is probably the best I have ever dealt with. Even beat Smith and Wesson on my wife's AR. I called Ruger and they sent me a next day air label for UPS. I boxed it up and shipped and 7 days later it's home. Hope your results are same. 👍👍
@shootinnscootin55457 ай бұрын
@scottmorgan1016 Thank you. I really enjoy shooting it and so does my wife and I'm hoping that it is a one time issue. I have the same concern as you about the pin falling out and I worry about not being able to take it apart and clean it properly. Hopefully since it seems to be a common problem with the Max-9 and LCP9 Ruger has found a way to remedy the issue. Good luck with yours. Hope it's a permanent fix.
@scottmorgan10167 ай бұрын
@shootinnscootin5545 yes sir so far since I have gotten it back I have shot say 300 rounds of my reloads thru it and no issues. And just to make sure the take down works well even if I only shoot 50 rounds thru it I took it apart and cleaned to make sure it does good. I am very pleased with it and carry it daily

Thanks for your video, Sir! Great job! Is that Hogue beaver tail grip a direct fit for the Max-9? I haven't been able to find one. Did you put one on that's made for another pistol?
@scottmorgan10163 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and yes it was for another gun. I couldn't remember at first so I went to Hogue's sight and looked. Looks like the ones that work for Ruger LC9S, EC9S will work for the Max9. They are tight a hell to put on but after you work it over grip it works great. It thickened up grip to feel better. Take care

I got my S&W Bodyguard back from warranty service in 3 months. I got my SCCY CPX-2 back from warranty service in less than 14 days. I just got my Taurus GX4 back from warranty service in exactly 14 days. The customer service from S&W was terrible as they were rude and unprofessional. The customer service I got from SCCY and Taurus was exemplary. I have not needed Ruger customer or warranty service as of yet. Thanks for the video and keep shooting 😊.

Wonder if this is same issue I'm having. Very first shot and would not go back into battery. Thought it was FTF but was not. Removed mag and still can't get back into battery. Will be calling Ruger first thing Monday. Grrrr.
@scottmorgan1016 Жыл бұрын
Mine would not go in battery unless I hit slide stop. Ruger said it's a stop not meant to be a release. Good thing on Ruger great service. Sent me a label and on the 8th day pistol home and has worked perfectly. All guns can mess up but the service you get keeps me coming back. They will fix you up no doubt. Keep us informed if it's a new issue.👍👍

I had the same problem… The issue is the frame is just ever so slightly too wide, where the trigger assembly goes in, particularly right around where the word “pistol” is printed. I fixed it myself using a heat gun, and then compressing in the sides of the grip frame in that area and it was a permanent fix.

Put only 50 rounds in mine, and the spring slipped off the slide lock bar, which caused it to not work properly for the slide lock nor the take down to remove the slide pin. I took it apart myself and found the problem right away and repaired it, of course as soon as I put some more rounds through it, it will just hapoem again. The fix for this would be a new frame that is thinner to hold the springs and actions in place, per design. I have read up and that us exactly the fix ruger makes for this particular issue. I'm not sure if I would trust this firearm with my life even with riger fixing it..
@scottmorgan10165 ай бұрын
That's a bummer on your Max9. After my issue I have shot over 600 rounds thru it with no issues. I know this is not enough rounds really. I use to shoot 500 thru a carry gun without any issues before I would carry. But with ammo cost that's harder now. I still think I need to closer to say 900 rounds to feel good on mine. I have really only shot probably 400 since the fix and shot 200 before the issue. It just sucks that we can't buy a gun that just works. The only guns I have that has been perfect were made say atleast 20 yrs ago. I hate it when gun makers say a break in period. That just bugs me, damn thing should work
@nooneisme71585 ай бұрын
@scottmorgan1016 I would say yours is good.. mine failed after a put 50 rounds if that. This is a frame issue, I believe they fixed this issue and I got one of the early max 9 that was manufactured before this issue was caught.. but after that many rounds you got a good one and I would say is reliable. The fact that this happened to me just makes me a bit uncomfortable carrying even when they fox it, but we'll see

Shouldn't have been an issue from the start. I'm sorely disappointed with mine. The old Taurus G2 runs rings around the Ruger and I no longer have any faith in the Ruger for CCW.
@scottmorgan101611 ай бұрын
@markkw2454 I understand your opinion but I disagree. I have had alot of Taurus guns that some were good and some not. But the process of getting said guns repaired wad awful
@markkw245411 ай бұрын
@@scottmorgan1016 I've never had an issue with Taurus service, but most importantly my G2 has run hundreds of mixed rounds flawlessly and with perfectly acceptable accuracy. The Ruger has been flawed from day one and does not group anywhere near as well as the Taurus even with select ammunition. Ruger's flawed design and shoddy workmanship ensure that I'll never buy another one.

@edgywedgie9307Ай бұрын
I hear people praise ruger for great customer service which is fine but I also hear they have horrible quality control, including my max 9 which had a bad machining job internally according to the gunsmith, didn’t even pass a simple function test out of the box. Horrible first impression. Am I wrong for thinking it’s inexcusable for a defensive handgun to be defective out of the box? I don’t see that opinion much
@scottmorgan1016Ай бұрын
No sir your not wrong at all. A defensive firearm should be right out of the box. But with mass production the way it is companies don't hit this unless it's well over a 1000 dollars and then it's no guarantee. I had a new Sig 322 that new 22 they make like the 320 and the barrel would lead up so severe after 40 rounds was worried to shoot it. Argued with Sig for several months and dumped gun at a loss. Found out you tuber I think Tools and Targets had same issue and he made a video series on it. I guess what I'm getting at they all can make a gun that QC doesn't flag right but how company takes care of you is where it's at. I hope Ruger took care of you. Right now my best striker guns are Caniks. I know made in Turkey but have been good. But with them I'm worried if I have an issue will they take care of me. My max9 is great after Ruger fixed the spring on the take down pin. It's a bummer but looks like the world we live in now
