Thanks for another tour of Australia! And the big annual sport bike ride was this past weekend in the St. Louis area. I'm glad I managed to dodge it. Thousands of riders taking up both sides of the road, doing stupid stunts like popping wheelies while standing up on their bikes, running red lights, riding the wrong way on one-way streets, riding on sidewalks, you name it!

I need a dash cam, I keep saying that I'll get one, but I haven't yet. Saw a crazy one yesterday on the van dyke highway. They recently upgraded the endcaps on a lot of the guardrails. They work good. Had the truck hit the old endcap type he'd have been skewered or worse

Ok, something that's been puzzling me here in the UK, while watching the hilarity of bad Australian driving (though we have more than enough of our own to share with the world as well) ... In several of these videos, I've seen captions such as "Rule 53, $238, 3 points" or "Rule 71, $317, 2 points" (not taken verbatim form the videos, but these are the sort of numbers involved). Why are the fines for traffic offences set at these seemingly Byzantine values? Were they originally set at more usual numbers, such as $200, $250, $350, whatever, and then incremented to these quirky values by inflation, or were they originally set at these quixotic values when the legislation was enacted, and kept there? Oh, and while I'm asking you to don your educational cap ... are there instances of driving laws that vary when you cross a state line? Which I gather would make life interesting for people such as interstate roadtrain drivers (of which my late brother was one, after he emigrated in 1967).
@ScottsCarcameras5 жыл бұрын
Hello , yes you got it already the amount were even when they wrote the updated rules, but they get put up every 12 months with inflation etc so about 2% so a fine that was 250 becomes 254 then 259 so on , and re states different laws , most laws are the same , some have slight variation or differences example in Victoria you can do Uturns at traffic light , not anywhere else , in WA you cant changes lanes in an intersection , in QLD bikes can ride on shoulders in certain situations , etc :)

That's what I thought too! I had a quick look at NZ road rules and you can drive on a flush median when turning on or off a road where this flush median is. Here's the link: www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/roadcode/about-driving/turning

Tony Rule Just had a look at the image, if you go around the corner more to the other exit there is two no-right turn signs, one from the main road and the other from side road only stating that you can turn left, so unsure whether the same would apply to that exit.
