This is a video walking tour of Old Town Scottsdale, Arizona. U.S. Army Chaplain Winfield Scott purchased 640 acres of land in 1888 near where downtown Scottsdale is now. Originally called Orangedale due to the large citrus groves the Scotts planted, the burgeoning town was renamed Scottsdale in 1894. Located in Maricopa County, Scottsdale is part off the Phoenix metropolitan area. The town was first incorporated in 1951 with a population of around 2,000. As of the 2020 census, the population now sits at 241,361. It is one of America's fastest-growing cities. The downtown area is full of restaurants, shopping, hotels and resorts, coffee shops, tasting and tap rooms, art galleries, museums, salons and spas, a free trolley, and many events throughout the year.
