Are the bikes very sturdy driving down the road? I see them all the time but just wonder what keeps them from topling over.

I mean no offense sir but you have mounted this tailgate pad incorrectly. The pad should be mounted further back so that it covers more of the rear surface of the tailgate. I believe this will also fix your issue with the pad flap opening being in the wrong location.
@jonnycook22333 жыл бұрын
I have one and mounted it very differently. It appears you have mounted it too high up and that is why the flap is not over the camera. Also the straps for the bike should be at the top instead of inside the deck. Try adjusting it.
@bradymoritz Жыл бұрын
yeah he mounted the fox one wrong. The loops that hold the bikes should be sitting on top of the tailgate, not behind it. and that would lower the window for the camera and handle too.

I have the Yakima Gatekeeper. This CD one looks like either a copy of it or it might be made in the same factory. This one does look to have a smooth almost rubbery texture to it. The Yakima Gatekeeper works really well and attaches very quickly and securely but it has some issues as well - I am suspecting you will have some of the same issues with your new pad. On the first trip with it, I carried 4 bicycles over 100 miles with less than 10 miles of gravel. The cradles for all of them "collapsed" to the point where there is almost no padding remaining. The pad also has a textured outer layer that plays havoc with your bicycle's paint/finish and rubbed through the paint on 3 of the 4 bicycles in this single trip. The velcro, whilst it looks like amazing quality has after a month already shown to have lost some of its effectiveness. I suspect it will be next to useless in less than 6 months. The problem with all of this is that in South Africa where I am from, the product comes at a premium, and also looking at it you'd be amazed by its perceived quality. In short, having a tailgate pad changed my life in terms of how easy it has become to transport our bicycles but the quality of the product has really let me down. On a side note, the flap for the camera and handle is designed to be tucked in and not folded over.

Excellent comments, thanks so much for sharing. We are still in the middle of our testing phase and will hopefully have a follow up video here in a couple months. Also, thanks so much for mentioning the idea of folding the flap underneath the top of the pad. It's not an exact fit, but it definitely works in a pinch. Thanks so much for watching!

@@ScottsGarage My tailgate pad was replaced without question by the supplier after around 2 months of use. The new one unfortunately has exactly the same issues and the velcro is almost completely useless on 3 of the 5 cradles after about 2 months. I am now looking at an alternative but choices are few and far between where I am from. How is the CD one holding up?

@@vilaishima So far so good. Now that the weather is nicer here in Colorado, we've been using the cover at least a couple times a week. Everything is still working great. Of course, we do need a couple years of use to really get a full idea of how the straps will hold up. Hope that helps.

How come some people realize that license plates are in public view and nobody can do anything with the tags, just like when you're driving or parked anywhere and then others just...don't get it?

Yes, we’ve actually carried full suspension E bikes many times using this cover without any problems.

@@ScottsGarage Seems there is a new model that addresses some of the issues you pointed out on the video. Think I'm going to try the new model. Thanks for your review!

I don't care it the dam thing gets dirty, as long as as the bike doesn't scratch the truck I’m fine.
@ScottsGarage2 жыл бұрын
Yep, I would agree. Protecting both the bike and the truck are the most important elements to these pads. That being said, it’s nice when one doesn’t permanently stain.

DO NOT BUY THIS PAD! Or anything from Fox Head. If your gonna make money from selling cheap stuff you should stand behind it without needing the receipt! Our pad is under a year old and all the straps frayed like yours.
