@@finger5853 I mean, I would argue that chansey is much scarier. Tauros is legendary for sure but he is kept healthy for a reason. Paralyzed or weakened tauros are simply not an issue.
@airtempest89452 жыл бұрын
I think people didn't factor in the level up rate, which matters a lot. Yes, Tauros has better stats in most areas, but since it levels up slower, the neglible attack difference really falls in Kanga's favour, and the Special bulk falls so both get 3 hit KOed by special moves usually and both usually outspeed, but the physical bulk deficit that Tauros has is even more disparent since it's trailing in level innately. That and Kanga has early access to much more useful stab moves where as Tauros doesn't really get anything until Body Slam other than Stomp, and by that point, both Kanga and Tauros do well 'cause both of them have similar move pools (Even then, Kanga still has a better one 'cause Bubble Beam for Rock Tunnel, where as Tauros is stuck trying to KO rocks with normal moves)

On the weird evolution theories. When Pokémon arrived in France, I had a booklet with all the pokémons drawn without any other information and no gameboy yet. I was convinced Cloyster evolved into Gastly giving a whooping 5 stage evolution line Shellder - > Cloyster - > Gastly - > Haunter - >Gengar I thought the "Ball" in Shellder/Cloyster would simply shed it's shell to become Gastly
@scrubplaceholder62162 жыл бұрын
I did think Gastly was a dead Cloyster. Oh and Magicarp should have become Dragonite, Gyarados last evolution of Dratini. Im 100% certain they made a mistake there. Same for Butterfree / Venomoth switch. Mistakes were made.
@valor1omega2 жыл бұрын
@@scrubplaceholder6216 I disagree with you on the moth/butterfly theory. It is clear what their line was by looking at their base form was and what they was meant to become. Caterpie is a play on normal Caterpillars which become butterflies Nat is a play on the fuzzy caterpillars which turn into moths. So your theory only connection is one thing and it's weak.
@InsanityForce2 жыл бұрын
Magikarp evolving into Gyarados is justified. Also, it keeps its whiskers. Not all moth caterpillars are furry. Also, Venonat doesn't really look like a moth caterpillar.. at all. TBF neither looks like a good evolution for Nat, but Butterfree's head, antennae and feet just look very similar to Nat's. Another thing is that Butterfree is much more cute than Beedrill, making Venomoth's appearence more of a counterpart. Butterfree does share Beedril's red eyes, however. Venomoth 's eyes also look similar to Caterpie and especially Metapod. However, unlite Nat, we have a good idea what species Caterpie is : likely a tiger swallowtail caterpillar (entirely green witha Y shaped red horn and yellow "eyes"). Definitely something that would evolve into a butterfly. Not quite like a Butterfree, but closer than to a Venomoth. Really, neither works for Venonat. But I think the Nat-Free theory is valid.
@valor1omega2 жыл бұрын
@@InsanityForce The whole link between Nat and Butterfree is still weak to be honest. After all the feet can be easily ignored. Remember real caterpillars don't have the same features as butterflies until they change. Besides using looks couldn't one just say that Vulpix is part of the Growlithe line? They both are red, they are both canine, both need fire stones to evolve, and so on.
@InsanityForce2 жыл бұрын
True, Weedles' only common feature with Beedril is pretty much the spike. The big difference with Vulpix/Growlithe is that their own evolutions suit them muuuuch better.

That's why Lance got pregnant and laddered in his career and Bruno is like one bad performance review away from going back to being a gym leader
@Hubilicious902 жыл бұрын
@@rylandtappe-inglis6325 I don’t think so. Since the Saffron-Gym lawsuit of 1994 no one dares to touch Bruno anymore… For context: the city of saffron established the psychic gym in 1994 despite having legal obligations and was contractually bound to the already existing fighting gym (which Bruno was the leader of at the time). Why Saffron pushed for this move isn’t completely clear, but it is said that nepotism in the city council may have played a role in this decision. However, Bruno filed a lawsuit (after all, giving out concessions to other gyms was a breach of contract). To settle the matter quickly and avoiding a lengthy lawsuit, Saffron opted to agree to a court settlement which granted Bruno a position in the E4 in exchange for the official legitimation of the psychic gym. He of course would still have to fulfill the requirements for the E4, namely having „mastered“ a second type. Saffron council made this possible by acquiring Bruno two Onix, which previously used to work in the quarries (and couldn’t have done so much longer by the looks of it…). It was all a farce and everyone knew, but no one spoke up leading to the situation we are in right now.

Kangaskhan has a much larger TM move pool for the early game. Then I noticed it gets Rage at the start. Another thing you later pointed out in the video is that Tauros levels up slower. This Challenge was clearly tilted against Tauros in the early game. HOWEVER! This challenge was also tilted against Kangaskhan in the later part of the game because of it's special and slightly worse stats other than HP.

@shanoc59022 жыл бұрын
Man, one thing that I really appreciate here, it helps show that the defensive stats like HP and Defense are actually pretty valuable in these comparisons which usually in single pokemon challenges they're not as the 'challenge' nature often biases a lot of single pokemon runs to the one-shot or be one-shot meta where speed, power, and coverage rule supreme. Getting to see a challenge format that allows bulky pokemon to benefit from their defensive stats in the nature of time optimizations, which I feel you've boiled down to a very good system, is really nice and refreshing. Also for what it's worth, I don't think that the rock slide vs body slam difference on Koga is a huge problem. As shown later, the effective power of STAB body slam vs supereffective rockslide is pretty similar (127.5 power vs 150 power) resulting in rock slide being about 15% stronger but with bodyslam being much more consistent (and the paralyze chance) I don't think it makes a big difference here to go with one vs the other. Your races are a ton of fun to watch, can't wait to see the next one!

I think there's a bit of a weakness in the reasoning behind the Consistent League segment. Yes, Tauros finished the league at a lower level, but it's also in a slower experience group. How much difference in playtime is necessary to achieve this Consistent League? Were they both similar because of the experience gain discrepancy? Or was Tauros still faster despite that? Of course both have the same base total and as such Tauros should have lower total stats at the lower level, but I feel the experience gain differences should still be considered somehow. Maybe compare the total experience points from the status screen?

Lol yeah. Tauros is amazing nowadays. Mega Kangaskhan is a different story, of course.

Im glad you have a fleshed out scoring system, that makes it feel alot better! I maintain an averaged time score would help you smooth it out a bit, that way you dont have to worry about your times being slanted towards good or bad luck

This channel just keeps getting better and better; the puns and the brutal Agatha burn had me creasing 🤣. (V appropriate too; the ghost trainer was literally invisible). Scott you are SMASHING this KZbin thing man 💪😁🔥

@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon 💪😁 it really shows man, I absolutely love your content, your sense of humour (the Cringe Humour type is double super effect against the subscriber type), and how detailed each challenge goes. Its become a "drop everything cos Scott's posted another video" sitch over here 😎. (Also we're all still mega impressed you've hit max Chad status and achieved the girl friend evolution)

P.s. im a professional voice artist lol so hearing your outtakes at the end is one of my fav bits cos I literally do the same things all the time! The ridiculous misreads where you are viciously betrayed by your own tongue thing (how could you, tongue??), and the talking to yourself until your actually laughing at your own jokes but then realise you're sitting alone in a sound proof box possibly having a breakdown thing 🤣

Gotta love a good underdog tale! I love Kangaskhan coming in clutch due to overlooked factors such as HP, leveling speed, and access to a few extra moves such as Bubblebeam and (suprisingly) Gen 1 Rage. And don't worry about the Grimer video. Flubs happen to every prolific YTer. I have to admit I took super effective damage from the excessive amount of voiceover mistakes that were kept in that video, but it was not nearly enough to KO my subscription. I was not even at red health. I was just there to enjoy a good challenge run and I got it.

Glad you had the bulk to withstand the damage from the toxic sludge in the Grimer video. Glad it didn't poison you!

When Body Slam is enough to OHKO Venonat is actually is both more reliable (higher accuracy) and faster than Rock Slide, since the super effective message doesn't appear.

As a competent gen 1 player, I'd like to point out that Kangaskan does have 1 key thing separating it from Tauros. Kangaskan is able to learn Mega kick which is actually really powerful with STAB. When it comes to stats Tauros with 110 speed is only gonna outspeed Zapdos and Jynx in OU compared to Kangaskans 90 speed, which is only a slight advantage. However Tauros with 100 attack is pretty much identical to Kangaskans 95 and in fact Mega kick into Hyperbeam will do MORE damage then Tauros's Body slam into Hyperbeam. This talent is fully noticed in pokemon Stadium OU where Hyperbeam always had a recharge turn, thus Kangaskan's comparatively strong power is really worth useing.

I never really comment ever (even on videos I like) but these VS series are what I've always wondered about since playing Red Version when I was a kid. I don't really see many other tubers (even other pokemon tubers) doing this kind of thing and I never thought I would with how time intensive these things can be. But my man LETS GOOO, I love these series and will support with comments for the youtube algorithm Gods. KEEP IT UP!!!

Grinding up zapdos till it can Hurt geodude is so annoying
@paulnewton22842 жыл бұрын
@@andyvanmuilekom7390 If JRose11's Red/Blue Zapdos run is any indication, it actually won't be too bad. He was able to get past Brock at Level 10(?) and was only 8 in-game minutes behind Articuno. Since Brock's Pokemon are two levels lower in Yellow, it might actually be easier. Geodude only having Tackle and no Defense Curl could be annoying, though, as could Onix's Bind.
