As a shy kid with self esteem issues, I found myself watching these “unlock the secrets to women” videos from time to time back in the day. Luckily I know better now. I think that while the actual messages of them are harmful, the most harmful part is that women are painted as foreign creatures that need to have their secrets unlocked in the first place. It plays into the stigma that, for men, meeting people and dating are like trials you have to pass in order to get some reward rather than two people trying to connect. Women are just people and interacting with them isn’t hard if you can stop building them up as more than just another person in the world (seems obvious, but again, ✨toxic masculinity✨). Are women different from men? Absolutely, but not in such a fundamental way that men can’t understand or interact with them without learning some “secret formula”.

No different than women pick up artist saying date multiple guys and see who gives you the most stuff. Both genders "pick up artist" all give trash advice and it is all manipulation and essentially teaching everyone that buys into it. Tobe as much of a one sided asshole as possible. Like the woman who said if a guy asks if you are seeing anyone at the moment. To just go off on them and tell them if that matters to them they need to get a hobby. Like... as a man. If I asked a woman if she is seeing someone and she just blew up on me. I would 100% write her off right then and there. But, you see this is a pick artist "move". I should fall to my knees and be all "oh she is so cool." When in reality that "move" would make me think you might be crazy. Or just someone whom is so insecure they literally can't talk.

I mean, guys who are naturally assholes can't really just "be themselves" and get a girl. They were told to be nice, and they acted chivalrously, and while women appreciated not being treated like shit they still wouldn't take him seriously. So they turn to Bobby to learn why being a Nice Guy didn't work. And now they're being assholes but with a game plan and confidence. What they really need to be taught is that you can't win over every girl, and spending emotional effort into each first date will wear you down. If you treat this like a game, be prepared to lose some rounds. Be genuine but don't take it too personally if someone doesn't like you -- at least you know they don't like you for who you are than thinking "oh if I had just chosen A instead of C I would've won."
@MintyFreshCupcakes4 жыл бұрын
I think you verbalized this really well. People can tell when someone else isn’t being genuine. Reminds me of a discussion I had with a guy who said that he is tired of being a “nice guy” because a girl yelled at him for holding the door open for him. And I asked, because I couldn’t imagine someone getting mad at that, “did you run up to the door and past her just to be able to hold it open?” And explained that if someone did that for me I might be a little creeped out because the over-enthusiasm comes off as fake-chivalrous. And that any guy running in my direction already turns on my alert. But guys who are impatient and don’t care about girls feelings but just want a relationship are of course going to view it as, “oh well if only I said this I would have played the game right”

All of what he said didn’t help (and I never applied it) and made me question if they’re even the right moves or what the right moves are. I only actually met her once and never again only because I didn’t ask about staying in touch. This year I saw a girl in one of my classes that was DROP DEAD GORGEOUS.... and again being that I actually am socially awkward and didn’t know better... also didn’t go well. I have autism and I’ve always struggled with communication and feel pretty alone. What studies helped you and how did you improve? A “friend” tried to suggest PUA stuff for me when I wanted to improve at dating but I never felt comfortable enough with PUA stuff to believe in it or make an effort to use it, and I dropped him as a friend a couple years ago because he was a toxic person in other ways too. I would like to know the most important tips and what you studied. It’s hard to find actually good sources of self improvement.
@fireball1111213 жыл бұрын
@@bacchus9389 What started it for me what kind of the same thing. It was this site called girl's chase. Looking back it was full of the same sexist bullshit that doesn't work, BUT there were a couple of really good nuggets of information in there. Particularly about how you carry yourself. If you walk and speak more confidently it really changes things. From there I noticed very little change but would hear from girls about what guys they were attracted to. I personally started to emulate the non-verbal stuff. The way they walked, the way the sat, the way they stood, even the tone in which they spoke and before long it became more natural to me, and suddenly I wasn't thinking about those things as much. There's a fine line between actively paying attention to that stuff and over thinking it however, so you don't wanna focus too much on just that, and more in what makes you feel comfortable with yourself. Once I felt like I was in a place where I was finally just enjoying being me, everything fell into place. Suddenly lots of girls in school were very interested in me. More than a few times I caught people checking me out, and not just the girls that I felt I needed to kind of "settle" for (as vain as that may sound). I was never ugly, but also never hot, if that makes sense? So heading into college I found myself fading back into background again as there was more competition, but also I was dealing with other crap in life, but I still retained a lot more of that comfort with myself. I would say take what I say with a grain of salt as I don't have autism, so what worked for me might no necessarily work for you. If I could suggest one book to someone dealing with some of that, I would "Captivate: The Science of Succeeding with People" by Vanessa Van Edwards. She breaks it all down into a science which I think will work better for those of us who aren't naturally charismatic and tend to need more structure in understanding this kind of stuff.

There's some people that do have no self respect, and that's not only not attractive, but an actual red flag for long term relationships, I think these are the "nice guys" that finish last. This guy is just a jerk tho, you can 100% avoid the "nice guy" traps and not behave like the moron he seems to believe gets the girls.

There's nice guys and then there's "nice guys". The latter think they're entitled to sleep with you.

Some of these pick up 'artists' strategies can be summarized to either: - be an alpha (or sigma or whatever greek letter you prefer) show her who's the boss, be hostile, dont dress to impress nor care about what they think of you (while actually caring too much) - interrogate her, push her into the (metaphorical) corner until she eventually give in and accept all your flirts - use carefully said words or body languages to excrete pheromones out of you, basically some creepy stuff that would most likely be considered harrassment today
