KCS de Mexico funeral train on CSX New Castle Sub

CSX 3308 leads train Q348 east on the New Castle Sub from Greenwich to Lodi. They had 7 Kansas City Southern de Mexico "Super 7's) dead in tow heading to the LTEX graveyard in Lordstown.

Hola buenas noches En mi opinión es una parte de una flota de locomotoras que adquirió Ferrocarriles Nacionales de México allá por los noventas, fue su última compra de locomotoras diesel modernizadas como Súper 7 MP La descripción de MP se debe a qué contaba con microprocesadores, su numeración eran en ese entonces 15000. En la época de privatización se dividieron en dos lotes, una para el ferrocarril del noreste antes TFM ahora KCSM y otra para el ferrocarril central pacífico norte ahora Ferromex. En una excursión de amigos del ferrocarril he visto estas majestuosas locomotoras de KCSM al servicio de patio Y al no verlas por mucho tiempo y al toparme con este video veo su triste final 😭 Saludos desde México.

@@ScottTaipaleRail I was unaware that KCS had these until i stumbled across them accidentally which in return led me to your video, lol. Funny how that happens. Better this then never though, right? The paint looked pretty clean on these so either they were barely used after getting repainted or the paint was fairly new. Funny how these railroad companies spend the money to repaint something only to decide that they want to sell/scrap them shortly after. CSX is notorious for doing that, lol.

Hopefully their reporting marks are patched so that they could be leased to BNSF by 2021. Kansas City Southern de Mexico retired many of their Super 7s and sold them to Larry's Truck & Electric where they were kept in storage for more than a year. I knew they don’t come to the USA leading trains, though. They will if they have their lettering patched by LTEX reporting marks and leased by BNSF for a little bit or another Class 1 railroad. Let’s see, though!

Going with these?talk about a waste of power!this is the most saddest sight I have e ever seen!THESE locomotives should be rebuilt and restored refurbished and put back to work and make money for the. Railroad!instead of sending them to be scrapped,why not rebuild them and sell them to the shirt li es who need more power?these girls still have useful life left in them. Neither.. LTEX is a locomotive leaser so, these locomotives will be lettered LTEX and lease out to railroads.

@@brakie44820 Hate to break it to you, Larry's Truck & Electric is a major recycler and scrapper of locomotives, which is most likely what is going to happen to these units. CSX has just dumped a ton of locomotives on the market, and railroads aren't going to be interested in leasing Dash-7s when there are hundreds of C40-8Ws, SD60s, SD50s, etc to be leased. Unless by chance some GE orientated shortline wants them or they happen to find a buyer overseas, they will be cannibalized and scrapped. www.trainweb.org/lfnwfan/html/Larry%27s.htm

Larry's still leases out many locomotives but they buy way more than they'll ever have contracts to lease. The future is grim for these but I do hope we'll see a patched KCS running on Pan Am... fingers crossed!

@@brakie44820 Pardon me if I was unclear, Larry's Truck and Electric is still a major player in the lease market. For example, Larry's has been buying a bunch of the locomotives that CSX has been retiring and leasing them back out. I think pretty much all of the SD60s CSX sold off went to Larry's. Here is an example of locomotives that will easily find 2nd lives as leasers or can be resold to shortlines, etc. However, as Scott pointed out, there are many locomotives that go to Larry's that they know full well will never leave the property in one piece. Larry's is the last stop for many locomotives that have reached the end of their useful lives. These GE Super-7s are a perfect example. No class 1 in America is going to have the slightest interest in them, and I suspect that they will have a hard time even reselling them to a shortline. It's always possible that a lover of used GE's like Minnesota Commercial may step up to buy them, but considering the market has just been flooded with a bunch of newer and more powerful Dash-8s, there is really nothing to commend these units to anybody, even a GE friendly railroad.
