Poor Scottie, desperately trying to help Madeleine, he has recognize the place she is talking about from her dream hence why he will take her there. But by doing this he is unaware that, Gavin can now go ahead with the plan to get to San Juan Bautista before they arrive, where he will probably break his wife neck, which of course Judy is aware of.

Food for thought. What would Gavin had done if Scottie would not had recognize the place (San Juan Bautista) from Judys dream ?
