If you want bigger (but not heavier) go to patagonian carcharodontosaurids (Giganotosaurus and Mapusaurus, Tyrannotitan is also gigantic).

@A Jarzombek 12,1 to 12,3 for Scotty, and 13,2 to 13,4 m for the Giganotosaurus paratype, who is the longest than? Indeed it is not so important it is more interesting to go for ecology of these. Carcharodontosaurids are completely different than Tyrannosaurus of the Maastrichtian. They looks similar but they are not. They shows gigantic sizes but it is the only point of comparison. And finally the biggest land predator (but he is amphibious) is undoubtedly Spinosaurus Egyptiacus.

@@limoucheu8522 yes but T-Rex is built like a true heavyweight. Both Giganosaurus and semi-aquatic Spinosaurus would lose in a fight with the barrel chested more robust jaw of T-Rex. Spino mouth was meant to catch fish, and Giga as you mentioned was like a tall skinny man going against a slightly shorter burly guy.
@limoucheu8522
@limoucheu8522 2 жыл бұрын
@@misaelfraga8196 The question of the fight is not interesting for me because These animals are not contemporaneous and live in different places than a fight is not possible. The only fight possible is a carcharodontosaurid against a Spinosaurus (We have a dorsal vertebra of a Spinosaurus of medium size with the neural spine truly cut in the middle part by a gigantic carcharodontosaurid bite, we don't know if it is Carcharodontosaurus or another unidentified yet member of the family). For Giga yes he is lightly built than Tyrannosaurus but do you ever see a dorsal of these guy? The centrum is enormous (certain of the dorsals are more than 30 cm) and the lateral and dorsal process (lateral process and neural spines indicate a fantastic muscle mass. The complete dorsals mesure a little lesser than 60 cm with tall neural spines (especially on Tyrannotitan) place to put tendons and muscles. Yes they were lightly built than Trex but definitively not skinny. All the best

Prof. Genki nope. Take a good look at Scotty. He is nowhere near as wide or tall as Sue. I live pretty close to Chicago and have been to the Field Museum multiple time. I’ve seen Sue so many times to be able to know just by sight that Scotty is nowhere near as big. Longer? Maybe. Taller? No. Wider? No. Heavier? Maybe, but I don’t count weight when measuring size. In other words, Sue is bigger.

@@Vandicoup You're taking the word of a news network, not actual professionals. Scotty is only 65% complete compared to Sue at 90%. That matters. The estimations for Scotty relied on femoral circumference, which isn't the most reliable indicator for mass. Paleontologists such as Brian Switeck have pointed this out. I've worked in the natural history museum industry and I can tell you for a fact that all this 'largest this' and 'largest that' is so politically driven that people are willing to overstep real science.

Giganotosaurus is probably larger than Tyrannosaurus (12,4 m against more than 13,2 m) but these animals are comparable in size. The difference is more about their ecology. Giant Carcharodontosaurids were possibly more mobile (speed estimation), they are possible descendant of giants Sinraptorids (like Yangchuanosaurus and Sinraptor). The prey of the Tyrannosaurus are majorly derived hadrosaur and ceratopsians (rarely ankylosaurids) from the Maastrichtien level. The preys of carcharodontosaurids are the largest land animal that ever existed on earth the titanosauridae (like Patagosaurus and Argentinosaurus, ....). If Carcharodontosaurids were able to inflict terrible bites with bites marks visible on the bones, they were not able to crush them. Comparison between the power of a lion and a hyena. If you want to see really what they look like see the old documentary: Discovery dinosaurs beyond T rex where Rodolfo Coria explain the researches about patagonian carcharodontosaurids. To answer to your question: larger: a little, dangerous:? We dont really know but it seems that these gigantic predators were extremely active and probably hunt in social groups. More dangerous: ? Difficult to say because if Mapusaurus (one of the largest theropod ever found) travel in groups with possible social interaction, some Tyrannosaurids have probably do the same (Daspletosaurus bone beds in Two medicine Formation).

@@polarb.6554 There is no reason for a rex to bite a Giganotosaurus because Giga lives since 100 millions years and Tyrannosaurus 66! These two animals have no chance to be in concurrence. And if you have two large predators frequently these animals don't fight without any reasons, there power is so high that the chance to be wounded or killed is to high.
