Scotty Moore was one of the first guitarists to bring rock & roll to light while playing with Elvis Presley. His guitar work on songs like Mystery Train and Heartbreak Hotel were influences to many of the great rock guitarists who came after him, along with millions of others through the years.. Here is a short documentary on his life and career.

Scotty Moore was my guitar hero back in the '50s in Miami when I was a teenager. I LOVED all those old rockabilly songs. Elvis, Gene Vincent , Carl Perkins , all those guys

I realized I was getting old when I was shooting the bull with some guitar pickers in the mid 90's. I mentioned playing something 'like Scotty Moore' and they said. "Who's Scotty Moore?" sigh.

Scotty Moore's solo on That's All Right Mama was one of the first guitar solos I learned. That was about 1978 when I was 16 and I had listened to tons of hard rock music from the 60's and 70's My gut told me to learn it and play it.

I grew up primarily a metal guitar player, then graduated to other genres. Not so much Elvis. But as a guitar player, I appreciate the fact that this guy is phenomenal and deserves all the credit he gets.

Listen to Scotty leads on heart break hotel jazzy! To me Scotty took from big band era with those Gibson guitars revise playing them! Plus Scotty had a custom kick ass amplifier built-in Cairo Illinois that gave him studio sound on stage! Pioneer of rock guitar,Doc!

Beautiful little documentary. I had heard that Scotty was given some farmland from his father and that he worked that land for a year. The monies he saved during that year he used to purchase his blonde L5. The L5 not only sounded incredible playing with Elvis but it is still considered the holy grail jazz box that Wes Montgomery also played. I would have loved to hear Scotty play those songs live or be a fly on the wall during those early recording sessions.

Lovely documentary as every one you make. I remember communicating with Scotty’s secretary back in the late ‘90’s and buying a record from their business Sweetfish Records called All The King’s Men. I was a huge Elvis fan starting in the 50s as a child. I remember grabbing a broom and imitating EP by strumming the broom bristles and wiggling my legs. My mom (who adored Elvis) and my grandmother would just laugh so much at my EP impressions. When the Beatles showed up in the 1964/65 years I hated them. Two reasons: 1- They had (at the time) replaced Elvis musically (until he began his comeback) And 2: I was in the 8th grade and really into girls and I hated the fact that girls were into the mop tops instead of Elvis and more importantly (in my young mind) me! Over the years I’ve come to appreciate The Beatles (especially their early music) and still enjoy Elvis as well! Their can be no doubt that Scotty Moore, Bill Black, James Burton and Elvis were historically important to Rock N Roll! I’ve always felt that the Eastern European ilegal immigrant going by the phony name of Colonel Tom Parker was a real villain that cheated Elvis and anyone else he could cheat!

That first bunch of records compiled into The Sun Sessions has so much Guitar Playing on it it's unreal. And Elvis Playing such solid Rhythm, all those songs are almost one offs', they just chose a Song played it a few times and decided whether to record or not. Most of what Scotty is Playing is Improve. Highly recommend it.

I got got into a argument over Elvis and Scotty. A guy I know ( who wasn't a guitar player) trying to tell me about the lead guitar that Elvis played on early records. In the end after some comments from another friend and guitar player he understood. But made us admit that the man (Elvis) could dance. Friendship saved and we still enjoy music over a beer to this day.

For those complaining about guitar prices today, $600 in 1955 is equivilant to over $7,000. It was the equivelant of over $3,000 in 1978 when my dad, bless his heart, bought me a white telecaster like the one Keith Richards had on my Stones poster.

Your title is wrong....Les Paul was the player who put jazz,r&b, and country guitar together first...Scottie, as such, was simply doing his Les Paul impression.....
@RiverDocs
@RiverDocs 8 ай бұрын
Les Paul didn't bring it to rock & roll which is what this video is all about. He stayed in jazz, r&b, and country. So no my title isn't wrong. You are.
