I've thrown 30k at my car that is books for about this. It's truly the proof that money can buy happiness if you are able to build it how you want it. Hobbyists and enthusiasts only earn money so they can budget some of it for what they love. People without these things in their lives can be seen on living on sidewalks, in crack houses, drinking often, beating their wife and kids, chasing hookers (highly encouraged), and many other things as hobbies because they haven't found what they like or they like what the found. I choose all but the crack. And the car is the reason I might find a sidewalk residence.

It blows my mind how much things have changed. We used to grab bars of soap from home and go to the local park and ride anything we could figure out. Now the town we grew up in has a skatepark. It was built after we were adults and we could lobby the town to build it for the kids. But it was a huge victory to us. We still drive over and ride the park at times because we fought hard to have that built for the kids. We had to drive 30+ min into Indianapolis to get to a skatepark. So we didn't start going to skateparks until we were old enough to get our driver's licenses. Our parents didn't take us to parks. Parents weren't often as involved in their kid's sports as we are now. Some were, there are ALWAYS the exceptions, like Big Scott and Donna. The bikes have gotten so much more expensive and so much more durable.
