most people buy way to expensive mountain bikes but dont have the skill lol see way too many 40 year olds just cruising trails on a $5000 bike but i have a $1000 bike and will fucking rip that shit. even when i had a $500 bike i was doing big jumps and bottomin out the forks lol flipped the bars a few times. honestly most riders would be safe with about a $1000-1500 bike for trails as for that price your gonna still have a better bike than a 2005 bike that may have costed $4000 due to tech getting sleightly better for the price.

I've thrown 30k at my car that is books for about this. It's truly the proof that money can buy happiness if you are able to build it how you want it. Hobbyists and enthusiasts only earn money so they can budget some of it for what they love. People without these things in their lives can be seen on living on sidewalks, in crack houses, drinking often, beating their wife and kids, chasing hookers (highly encouraged), and many other things as hobbies because they haven't found what they like or they like what the found. I choose all but the crack. And the car is the reason I might find a sidewalk residence.

It blows my mind how much things have changed. We used to grab bars of soap from home and go to the local park and ride anything we could figure out. Now the town we grew up in has a skatepark. It was built after we were adults and we could lobby the town to build it for the kids. But it was a huge victory to us. We still drive over and ride the park at times because we fought hard to have that built for the kids. We had to drive 30+ min into Indianapolis to get to a skatepark. So we didn't start going to skateparks until we were old enough to get our driver's licenses. Our parents didn't take us to parks. Parents weren't often as involved in their kid's sports as we are now. Some were, there are ALWAYS the exceptions, like Big Scott and Donna. The bikes have gotten so much more expensive and so much more durable.

I enjoy Scotty Cranmer's channel! Good ol inspiring bmx content.. I'm sorry but, I gotta ask, what's with the click bait title? an old high milage used BMW under 6k left us underwhelmed. I mean your bike is already crazzy cool to begin with!! There's no need to up-sell with gimmicks here, We love your stuff Scotty. Take care & ride safe everyone✌ ❤🚲

Last time I checked a BMW was $45,000+. But now I get it that you were talking about an old used BMW. That makes sense!🤗

I used to work for Titanium Metals Corporation (TiMet Corp.) back in the early '90s, and yeah, the sheet, plate, tubing, bar, and billet (log) was expensive back then. So, I guess it hasn't changed that much since then.

The reason this bike is important, is because it is a introduction to a new market. And I expect that bike to be around for a few centuries.

I’ve been looking for the perfect crank for my 1-of-1 Titanium HH Phat Jawn 24” cruiser. (RIP Harry H...). Now I know what I’m putting on to replace the Answer ones. Love those two Ti 20’s.

Thank you, you have given me something to work towards, I LOVE building bikes, especially BMX I found a 20.75in WeThePeople with a left side drive Eastern back rim, Colony forks, Fit top load stem, I found it a the goodwill bins in Portland Oregon, if your hiring I will move to wherever , and if my girl don't want to come with me, I'll leave her in Portland and she can be my pin pal.

Literally just gave away a bike I built back in 2010 that I spent 1500 bucks on. I don't ride it anymore and don't need the money. But man bikes are crazy expensive. I ride more mountain/trail now and my one bike which is about 5k, has lasted 7 years of bashing with good maintenance and its still worth about 2k today used.

the prices don't surprise me at all. I remember in the early 1980s some kids spent a LOT of money on their BMX bikes. They probably spent more then this back then, because none of it was made in China. They would buy either a Diamond Back or Mongoose BMX bike and then slowly upgrade a lot of the components.

When I rode flatland back in the late 90s/early 2000's I custom built a couple of completes using the most expensive parts on Morales pro flat frames, and the total both times came to around $1400 and I thought that was extreme. I can't image spending 5 grand on a bmx bike.

In 1984 hutch made a bmx which retailed at £1250 in the UK. It had a lot of titanium parts and also magnesium parts, this was on another level for the time.

There is a 1930s Elgin Bluebird bicycle online. I went through all the restoration photos, and they really did a top notch job. It was a real garbage heap when they started. You could see through all the tins where it was rusted out. It was put up for sale, where it sold for well over $10,000 Also check out a Elgin Robin, Twin 40, or Miss America. If you want to look at something ugly look at the Elgin Blackhawk. Otherwise spare yourself.

Nor sure if your current pads qualify, but you need specific pads for carbon sidewalls rims. At least that was the case in road/mtb as of a few years ago.
