I wish I was like that, I barley learned how to manual in the past few days and before that I gave up for five years after I bought my new bmx from Scotty’s store, I had it for two months gave up and it’s been about five years now I’m getting told I’m to old to do it cause I’m 19 so I have even more discouragement than I already did been thinking about sellin the bike for cheap

I know what anodized metals look like, good old acid baths and whatever else, but I’ve never seen a frame look like that. It’s extremely unique in the finish, but also the fact that the build is mostly titanium and carbon fiber. I get what you mean, but saying it isn’t unique as a bike build is kind of just taking the piss.

They are all awesome I gave up five years ago about two months after I bought my bmx from Scotty’s shop and decided a week ago to try again barley learned how to manual and can almost do a 180 it’s more like a 170-175 right now but I was told I was to old to ride a bike and had a lot of discouragement from it and I didn’t think I was cause I’m only 19, but I’ve been thinking about quitting for good

​@@howiegruwitz3173your clueless. You have ANY idea how hard it is to heat things like Aluminum or Titanium? They dissipate heat rapidly making it extremely difficult unlike color(heat) treating stainless steel. This process is nothing like taking a torch to Ti 😊

Rad looking frame. Ti changes colors with heat like motorcycle exhaust. You can set up anodizing in your garage in coolers but its not super easy. Prep the parts well but then the power supply requirements and how you hook it all up. Dye and time in tank take some practice. It can be done though. Years ago i helped set one up in 5gal buckets and got some good results. It is controlled oxidation.

You don't use dyes with titanium. You use dyes with aluminium.

Titanium is oxidized (loss of electrons) to TiO2. The thickness of oxidized layers, changes the color that's refracted (angle of light). Just like Rust, which is slow process of oxidizing iron Fe2O3.

You guys should look into salt water etching and make custom badges for yourselfs! It takes like 6 to 8 hours to rust away the image but it's pretty cool and easy to do. Get a rectifier, plastic container(I was using cereal containers) and some brass stock and toner paper and your good to go

@7:41 my guess is they add an oil of sorts, splatter it onto the frame, then they get the water/oil /fire they dip the frame into to a certain temp. they then dip the frame(into said fire/oil/water), and introduce cooler temperature fluid whilst the frame is being shocked, causing the titanium to bring out different hues

The odyssey hollow key link chain isnt the lightest chain, but it is the most simple. I have both the key link and the fly tractor chains and the fly chain is slightly lighter :P It also has 1.2mm thicker links.

I used to make headbadges for bikes using a rectifier and acid solution to eat away the image I printed onto the brass. It's gotta just be certain chemical plus electricity to work. I know some ti is colored with heat
