Hey there, I thought I would reply to your question to help you out. Knowing if the guy you're talking to is top or bottom is something you 'MUST' know, way BEFORE you even start to date him. Every couple is different, some guys are tops, some are bottoms, some are versatile and other variations. Don't ever let anyone force you to be in a sexual role that you don't want to be in. But it's ok to experiment also, if you're not sure. Remember, as a gay Male you will be having sex with another guy. So knowing what you are both wanting to know about eachother's sexual preferences is very important from the beginning. Sex is something that can either make or break a relationship, so definitely ask him politely about his preferred sexual role. Do this before you get anywhere near a second date. Because if you leave it too late and then things get serious between you both, it may then create tension between the two of you if you later find out that you are both a top, both a bottom or maybe you want to try being versatile but he may not want to do that or maybe he is curious about trying another sexual role but he is not yet ready. You don't need to know every sexual detail about the other guy before you begin to date eachother, just the basics to begin with. First of all, ask yourself what is it you want. Are you more attracted to being in a particular sexual role, or do you want to just experiment with being versatile until you are totally sure which direction you feel best in. Knowing what you want for yourself, will help you to be more certain of the type of partner you're best suited to. For example: I'm now 33 years old, but I came out at age 16 years old. At first, I didnt know anything much about sex apart from the things I had heard about, read in magazines and seen in porn movies. I first thought I was bottom, because at that age I was suffering so much stress that I struggled getting an erection. So I thought I couldn't get hard because I was meant to be a bottom. So I began as a bottom, I liked the idea of being a bottom. But then at age 19 I met a lovely guy, and I fell for him but he was a bottom. I topped him and as I got into my 20s I realized that I don't actually like being a bottom, I felt in my heart that I'm a top. Sometimes your sexual role is not just a logical choice as it began with me, but you just know that you are that sexual role. You will know that from inside yourself eventually, if not yet. From age 19 I've been top, and I would never bottom again, except maybe within a committed relationship. Don't be shy, just ask with a smile. If you are told something that is not what you wanted to hear, then talk to the guy and be open, honest, and no matter how handsome and secy he is do not let him try to force you into another sexual role or into 3sums and orgies to suit him. Set boundaries, but if you want to, don't be afraid of experimenting either. But it must be your own choice, not decided by someone else's desires. May God watch over you. Peace xxx
