I was having the same issue with 2009 Nissan Rogue SL After i got a call from my wife saying her car wouldn't start ok so i checked it and it had a good Battery it wanted to start but wouldn't....everything on the car was working....tried jump starting it anyway still nothing i heard it all timing chain...starter...alternator and to me none of that made sense so i took off the wheel and when to work and yes indeed after taking off the belt my wife's car did start up. So i checked the ac pulley and it would not move so i took off the clutch and the bearings to the pulley fell out. The compressor did not lock up the pulley did so it prevented the belt from turning. After replacing clutch and pulley as well as the coil on the compressor everything is back working normally i hope this do help someone because it had me lost for words. How could anyone give this a thumbs down?
@DaytonCarCare8 жыл бұрын
+cfcreative1 Because most of the symptoms he mentioned are the most common but not always the case. There are other things that could happen to cause a crank no start situation. For example: Some German cars with big engines will not start simply because of a low CCA battery output or failing starter motor. Or most the newer cars have immobilizer that could be at fault. First thing you should do is get a reader or have someone pull the DTCs with a code reader be it OBD2, Vagcom, etc...

cfcreative1 Just answering someones question of why a few "thumbs down". Not getting into a debate of whether his advise is good or bad.
@DaytonCarCare8 жыл бұрын
BlackHack911 I didn't say "bad starter" now did I? Please read. I'm talking about low battery amps to starter or starter solenoid. If you know anything about cars with big engines this is definitely a factor. And yes even a bad starter would crank an engine just too slow to produce enough combustion. Even if you have spark and fuel if there isn't enough combustion it still wont start.
@222Lightning8 жыл бұрын

This is the kind of information we wish was in owner's manuals. Important stuff. I had a no start because there was a neutral safety switch (at least that's what I think it was) that was on the transmission. I had moved it out of position (and it was a bit loose anyway) when I was connecting a back up light switch connection that kept falling off. Good think that this problem showed up about that time, or I wouldn't have known what to do. The thing was loose and could have changed position at any time. I had to rotate it to where it worked and then had to tighten it in that position. Also, don't forget to check spark plug gap. If it's got worn plugs they might not spark. That happened to me and a shop charged me $1500.00 and still didn't fix the problem. Turned out to be worn plugs. When you get older "just a few years ago" can turn into about a decade, so beware of that also.
