But she is out of tune, she keeps switching scales, singing in the original version tune, then lower, then major, then minor, like wtf, I'm not a huge fan of tears for fears, actually i only know like 5 songs from them which i love, but still i haven't listened to them that much, but this cover is kinda messy, not that bad, but not good either. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Besides, Katy has a good voice but no technique, usually her live voice is messy, and she keeps switching scales and tonalities in songs, she should practice more, many of us singers can do better than this, So just because she is a celebrity we should all say she is good even when she is not doing it right and is out of tune or technique? 🤔

I miss the nostalgic 80's rhythm that was lost with the acoustics, but I really like what she did with the vocals. I am not a Katy Perry fan because I don't really like pop, and though she has brought some elements of pop to this song, you can't deny it's a wonderful tribute to the original song. Thank goodness she has good taste.

People who don't understand music are those who most often dismiss or criticize covers because they fail do differentiate between arrangement and a song. You can close your eyes and hear this song in your head as a barber-shop quartet, or in jazz, or as a light orchestra. It is a beautiful song, difficult to ruin unless played wrong (TFT Good Night Song pun intended).

NOW I respect PERRY. This is a difficult song to sing. This song, her version and especially the original, is a subtle and sophisticated sojourn down many pop song cliched alleys, but one winds up with truth rather than syrup on a pile of sugar. And an acoustic version is an audacious and appropriate act.

Stripping back the instruments and using a harsh sounding guitar, almost model tuned, makes this whole thing feel awkward, slightly unnerving. Which is PERFECT for the song. What a brilliant choice. Nailed it.

There's an unfortunate tendency on KZbin for people to see everything as black and white and with us or against us. I came here with an open mind (Don't like Katy Perry much as she seems pretty moronic, but like quite a lot of her music). I really liked her vocals on this version, but didn't particularly like the overall song as the guitar work wasn't to my liking, and it was mixed in to be a bit too loud in my opinion. I think I'm quite reasonably entitled to that open-minded opinion, and to express it. And those people who might despise Katy Perry who came here hoping and expecting to laugh at her version and down-vote are _just as entitled to express their opinion as her fans who came to enjoy and up-vote._ But voting is a funny thing. Firstly, people rate things according to different criteria. Some do it purely on whether they particularly liked or disliked the content. Others do it just out of personal loyalties (for or against). Some of us down-vote a video we might otherwise like if the title is misleading, wrong, or somehow bothersome. How do we rate a video whose contents are great but the quality of which is terrible? We all vote in different ways, and for different reasons, and we can't expect others to follow the same criteria we do. As I discussed earlier, the overpowering guitar work (that I didn't particularly like) _almost_ ruined the song for me. Her vocals, however, were solid. So I'd probably give it a like, except for that stupid picture. Dressed like some sort of edgelord throw-back to the 90s, holding a knife like she has never held one in her life, it's kinda of lame, right? Surely that warrants a few dislikes? :) KZbin votes aren't always about what's deserved. But it's also not fair to judge the ratings bar as cruel, is it? At least not without knowing _why_ so many people disliked it.
