I'm originally from the Wirral, and I've been dubbed a woolyback many times, or posh Scouse, as I enunciate more I suppose like someone from Cheshire, and since I made the grave error of moving to hell, sorry, the South, all I've had is confusion and ridicule of my accent as it's simply Northern, the way I say bath, without an r, called a foreigner, and much worse. It's true what they say about Southerners, I've not met one friendly, warm or helpful one yet, and I don't like the accents. It's lovely to watch this video as it gives me some nostalgia feels, I especially liked the two girls, they looked fun, and one came from Southport one of my favourite haunts back in the day! Thanks for posting, it's made me smile stuck in miserable hostile Kent.

Live in Liverpool but born and raised in Southport, didn’t realise how much of a wool I was until I got here. @Anonymous_Anon8823 жыл бұрын
How are they different?
@jordancruz73753 жыл бұрын
@@Anonymous_Anon882 Well historically speaking, before the county boundaries changed, Liverpool was a part of the county of Lancashire, these days Lancashire is associated more heavily with the likes of Preston and Burnley and Blackburn. Whilst Liverpool and Merseyside has become very much its own thing, Southport, with its Preston postcode, still feels an awful lot like Lancashire. The accent is different, the cultural references are different. I was born and grew up in Southport with a Mum, Dad and older sister all from Kirkdale, and I am still VERY different to Scousers. Best example I can think of, my sister lives on a road in Southport, both her and her husband are from Liverpool, they both work in Liverpool, travel in everyday, spend weekends shopping in town and eating out at restaurants. Their next door neighbour is born and raised in Southport, works on a farm just outside of Southport, goes pheasant shooting on the weekend and would maybe go to Liverpool once a year. Thats the split. Sorry for the essay.

@rosebudlilly 2020 Nah. Only chavs wear 110s, but then again Liverpool is overrun with them these days.
@danielprudhoe6474 жыл бұрын
@rosebudlilly 2020 Yeah no, it most definitely is chavs who usually wear 110s and North Face, not saying it exclusively is but the vast majority are, I'm assuming you're probably part of a clique that are pretty chav-esque but Don't really want to be put on that label but in my experience as someone who most definitely isn't a chav, in my experience the majority of people I see wearing them are chavvy smackhead scallies. Probs where they get the money for them a bit of dealing on the side to get those fancy chav shoes 😂

Nobody on this video actually knows what a woolyback is and I don't know how, they act like being a wool is a bad thing and use it as an insult but if their definition of it is it means you're not scouse, I'm happily a woolyback.

That’s because the accent is part Irish due to heavy Irish immigration into the city. It’s also part Welsh, Norwegian and English.
