True. He missed at least 3 passes that we expect him to catch. One a TD. BTW, it seemed like the coaches wanted to appease him with that attempt.

Do you think Omar talk with the Raiders GM during or after the game about Adams?
@Justin_Watson23
@Justin_Watson23 10 сағат бұрын
I pray that he does. 🙏 I don't know how they expect to play a QB who can't run, with receivers who can't get open, behind an OL that allows a ton of pressure, with an inconsistent at best run game, & defenses will condense even more without a run threat at QB.
@Keefer24
@Keefer24 9 сағат бұрын
@@Justin_Watson23receivers most certainly get open bud, they stack the box because we can’t throw, therefore stops the run game. Fields missed multiple throws yesterday even with a clean pocket, I watched first hand him miss a wide open Calvin Austin in the end zone, he didn’t even glance to that side of the field. Adams will want to go to a team that’s a contender and has a QB that can throw consistently.

Hi Matt, I appreciate how committed you are to getting these out to us! I’ve heard you express your desire to see this offense under Wilson, and I gotta say after this game I’m on the same boat. I have loved JF play and his attitude through all this, but I just think his down-to-down consistency hasn’t been great and to succeed going forward and potentially into the playoffs- that’s what this team needs. Especially for the passing game. I’d hate to lose his running ability though. What are your thoughts??
@natetewkesbury
@natetewkesbury 18 сағат бұрын
*Matt won't give you his thoughts but I know as much about this team as he does so I'll answer. 🤪 Fields really just needs the reps and when you throw it all together, it's been a very good 6 games. The injuries along the OLine and RB have not helped but at same time, the WR position has not either. Besides all that they have handcuffed the QB Fields all year but at same time, they open it up and give him a little more each game. His aggression has risen every week. Yes he is missing some throws and missing the open windows to make the throws, but it's so close. Just seems the Offense in whole is very close to making those same plays, completing those same passes and moving the ball from a down to down perspective. 100%. The Offense has another level or two to hit and I truly think from watching the team thru 6 games, they are almost there and this will be the best Offense in Pittsburgh by far, since 2018*

After watching the first drives by both teams I was worried that this is going to be same story as the last two games but boy o boy the D took over and TJ just wrecked the game! Najee came to play today! Hope Fraiser is fine. Fields played good but missed some throws and took some unnecessary sacks. But he is improving! We do need another legit WR . Nice analysis as always Matt!

Nice to see the win. However, the offense did NOT win this game. The D gave them 3 extra possessions and blocked punt was a turn over too. Harris was the star on offense. Fields can run. But our pass game sucks. Calvin had a couple when we needed them, but he is a 3rd receiver all day.

The receivers, even Pickens, just can not get open within the proper window of the QBs progression according to the play design. At least a quarter of long time Steelers fans saw this coming before camp if they didn't make an aggressive move to add a #1 or bonafide #2. Omar should be ashamed of how bad that unit is. Last in WR salary by about 50% & last in separation per route run by about 50%. He's getting what he paid for.

If you look at our roster, that’s how we’re built to win. No turnovers, strong defense, strong running game
@DAPete418
@DAPete418 4 сағат бұрын
I agree the roster is built for strong running, but it also needs an effective passing game. Small, but effective. Right now it is not particularly effective. We were bailed out by 2 penalties. One let us get a TD and the other took a TD from the Raiders. Thats a 14 point closer game. 🤷🏻‍♂️
@raynman67
@raynman67 18 сағат бұрын
Hey who doesn’t love Fields ability to run for 1st Dahns and Touchdahns. I certainly do. But let’s be honest, his passing game is yet something to be desired or feared and I think when we get to the tougher opponents and or need to air it out to win we could be in trouble.
@Justin_Watson23
@Justin_Watson23 10 сағат бұрын
The problem is the WRs, just like I said it would be if Omar didn't add a #1 or bonafide #2 back in May, when he drafted a redundant slot exclusive WR, rather than a big/athletic outside guy in the draft. Steelers WRs are last in separation by route run, by a lot - averaging less than half of the #31 team does to be exact. Without Fields's playmaking ability, this offense goes from "ugly but still producing points" to a Pickett-esque disaster.

Matt, our WRs stink. Outside of his running, Fields was bad yesterday. The only argument to keep him in is that our OL is a mess and i wonder about Russ taking too many sacks.

I hated going for two so early in the game. Just kick the extra point. The touchdown on 4th down got the Steelers 3 more points and it would have been 4 more with the extra point so I think that was a risk worth taking.

Can you blame davante adams for not wanting to play in this offense? No way in hell is he coming to Pittsburgh!!!!
@mycalbrooks8161
@mycalbrooks8161 12 сағат бұрын
He would actually open up the passing offense because they won’t be able to bracket Pickens every play and neither of them would be truly double teamed.. which would open up the running game and the underneath routes for the slot and tight ends.. I mean not sure why the most basic thing needed to be explained .. Adams makes us a top contender I’m sure he would be able to see that

I just don't understand this belief that Wilson is going to be able to do more with this struggling offensive line and lack of offensive weapons. I see Wilson as a guy who would be better at getting the ball to weapons if they had them. But taking Justin Fields away is just taking maybe their biggest offensive weapon away
@joeyyoho3670

Also, what a disingenuous framing of losing 35 yd on three sacks. Acting like one of them didn't come off of a bad trick play that left him absolutely no chance to avoid a sack, that probably lost close to 20 of those yards

@Justin_Watson23
@Justin_Watson23 10 сағат бұрын
I don't want to see Wilson. I think with the pieces (or lack of) around each QB, one has the ability to be productive when he's forced to run for his life (had accounted for every TD until Najee run - WRs still can't get open & down goes another lineman) & the other is 35 & will take a ton of sacks. They're the Raiders offense with Wilson, but without a target that's consistently open & as reliable as Bowers. Tough to throw into the end zone when the receivers are THAT bad. Mr. Williamson is making the assumption that the Steelers skill players aren't last in the NFL in separation per route run - by A LOT. Over 2x less than #31 level bad.

first half a lot of penalties putting the offense with long 3rd downs to try to convert and also that bonehead double reverse flea flicker that got blown up. sure fields wasn't great, but there were also a lot of things going against him and that offense early. bottom Line, They won and won decisively
