The day before Christmas Eve would be called Christmas Adam since Adam came before Eve. 😋 Wonderful cleanup on the heater. Looks very inviting, like you know it's going to warm you up.

My mother was a registered nurse. We celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve because she had lots of seniority, and she traded with the younger nurses so they could be with their young children Christmas Day. My brother and I were grown. So that became a tradition.

Beautiful job on that very nice vintage heater, Scout! Same type my grandparents had when I was a kid. Provided auxiliary heat in their living room when it was so cold that their coal furnace couldn't produce enough heat. Remember winters like that back in the 60's and early 70's? Merry Christmas to you!

Nice job on the lamp Scout, it’s so easy to go too far but you did it just right. The only change I would make is to use three core woven covered cord and added an earth to the frame. All these years and I only just found out you’re a vegetarian. I really admire that and I’m trying to head that way myself. I don’t know if I’ll make it before I die but I’m certainly eating a hell of a lot less meat. Merry Christmas from a lovely and warm land down under, Stuart and Leanne 🇦🇺
@ScoutCrafter18 күн бұрын
Stuart- Being a vegetarian I still eat eggs cheese and drink milk so it isn’t that bad. Being a vegan is much harder. My grandmother would make all sorts of animal dishes and when I said “Grandma I don’t eat meat” she would say “That’s not meat it’s Pork” 🫣😂👍

@ Totally agree, vegan would be way too hard for me. Your Grandma sounds like fun. 🤩

That's a great thing about a fire is the way that heat goes right deep to the bones. I've been out in the wilderness so terribly cold and then get a fire going and the way the heat radiates thru is wonderful when you're chilled to the bone.

I really like that old heater you revived. The shiny copper on these heaters always intrigued me. Some time back I saw one by GE for sale at a junk mall. I wanted to buy it but was afraid to because I thought it would be a white elephant if the heating element didn't work. So I passed it by. Now I wish I had it because vintage elements show up on Fleabay. These old heaters were also very quiet and put out alot of warmth. Merry Christmas.

There was a bakery that my grandparents went to when I was a kid that served doughnuts that were fried in lard and had real jelly in them. My grandmother would let us take one for the ride home and put the rest out of reach in the car. Merry Christmas to all 🎅

Many years ago I was broke and working at a hard manual job with a bad back One day I found an infra-red lamp for a cheap price at a second hand store. I could just afford it, so bought it and when I got home I got set up. Blanket on the floor, book to read, back liniment, plug in the magic lamp that was going to take away the pain. Turned it on, and , Pop the globe blew instantly ( The replacement globe cost more than the lamp, so that was out of the question). I laughed so hard my back hurt even more. Still makes me laugh decades later

I love that voltage controller. This may be a dumb question, but can anything be damaged by running at a lower voltage that what it operates at?
@ScoutCrafter19 күн бұрын
Absolutely! The inherent problem with running certain motors at a lower speed is overheating. Smaller brushed motors like the Dremel seem to work OK but larger motors heat up after a while when the voltage is dropped. 😃👍

I would be willing to bet that the color of that copper is due to a discolored translucent finish that was applied to prevent tarnishing, if you did have bare copper applying a garnet shellac would probably yield a similar result. Happy Wigilia
