Cyril Ngonge reminds me of a cross between JJ and Bailey. If he could replicate his form in the PL it would be some addition to the squad. Looks very good. Composed and skillful with an eye for a pass as well as a goal. Plus we can sing "Nice one Cyril...".

Duran's ceiling is incredibly high, but he is not close to being a starter for where we want to be and I am obviously basing that off what I watch of him when he comes off the bench; And I'm not overly impressed by what I see a lot of the time tbh. I do concede he hasn't had many opportunities, but I think that is because he isn't ready yet & we aren't fighting for mid table, we're fighting for CL (and in the title picture till we are not). I have seen people talk about chaos and they're seemingly more comfortable watching that style of play - I much prefer the control Emery has tried to instill in the team this season. I guess the chaos can be useful, but it feels like it's more of a last resort, whilst we don't have our full toolset (Tielemans, Torres, Kamara, Digne, Cash, Traore recently, and JJ & Moreno still not match sharp). IF the reports are true, that there is friction, then I'd happily see him go so long as we get a proper fee. Unai Emery is the most important person at the Club, and squad harmony is most important above all else too; certainly above a young back up striker still prove his worth. Why risk a happy squad for Duran? Really? Again, this is based off of John Percy's article, I'm not making things up, it's from a reputable source for Midlands football news. If everything is fine, then I'd still like to see him go but only out on loan for 12-18 months to play regularly, IF we can get a body in, in Jan, like this Ngonge, who I'd never heard of until a few days ago, and then maybe someone else in the summer if this guy is not up to it. January is tough to sign players, and we obviously won't find anyone better than Ollie unless we get extremely lucky. Someone better than Duran should not be as hard to find though, even if Duran goes on to be incredible in the future. It's now we care about. Look at the opportunity we have; We want trophies and CL now, right? And we can't stockpile unhappy players. Sometimes it is one or the other. It isn't as simple as FIFA.

At first i was thinking too many left footers. And we dont have a natural inverted right footed left winger! But, if u sell Bertie or Zaniolo loan is cut short - then its a simple upgrade. Imagine this lad comes on after Bailey Ollie and Diaby have ran a defence ragged for 75minutes... Hes explosive and unpredictable always room for that in the team.

Morning Neil. Reports suggest we have had an offer of &9m accepted . Couldn’t see Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City etc buying this guy and he is not CL or top 6 PL player. Not convinced by any stretch in a more physical league, but in Emery we trust.

The Arsenal and Liverpool thing was admittedly when he was 18/19 years old. He isn’t the complete article but there is something about him. I agree he will be a project player if he comes but I like the look of his potential as a striker more than a wide player in the prem. He has boom or bust potential.

This is a no brainer .can grow into a real player l think there is a plan to over load our right side at time with pace and speed . Emri will play them alll . Maybe use one as a wing back when needing a goal

Hi Neil, are you aware of Ngonge's issues with attitude and discipline from his time in the Eredivisie? Apart from that, yes, good review of the player and he is indeed 'efficient' with the football -- that's a good way of putting it. Scored some goals for Groningen and has a bit of magic to score a worldie. Scored a great scorpion kick once iirc.

They are pretty much on the same arc as us as potential Conference League winners and in the champs League spots in Italy but I get what you mean, testing yourself in England could be seen as a much bigger challenge.
