I really think the Dog is just too loyal for their master’s own good. As the dog still seems to care for the person and continuously defends the owner and even gets wary if it strays to far from the owner. He’s aggressiveness is due traumatic situations that they faced together that led to the owner either killing him self or someone or a group force-ably hanging the owner. This would explain why the dog is now extremely hostile after witnessing someone brutally murder his beloved owner. This does not explain his anomalous abilities. I Truly think if they cut the owner down that they would reunite after the owner would be able to call out to his dog and soothe him once and for all.

I'm pretty sure that the dog is the owner's pet, but maybe he was so loyal that he even kept death away when his master hung himself, not understanding this will make his master suffer forever because... He's a dog. That's why it seems the corpse fully 'dies' when the dog isn't close. I think if the dog was kept away for long enough, the man would die proper. Maybe his weird characteristics were obtained when death couldn't fully claim the dog either.

Literally, the dog is keeping Death away from approaching his master, making him unable to die. Since it has surpassed the normal lifespan of a dog, it should be dead too, but Death is unable to take it while it protects his master. If it go away for enough time, Death could approach to finish the job and take the master's life, thus ending the dog mission and finally killing it too. That's why both the dog and the master look less "alive" the further the dog is from its master: Death is doing its job. The sad part is the master wants to die, but his loyal friend will not allow it, because he is just an animal and can't understand that. And that's how an act of true and selfless loyalty keeps two souls trapped in a cycle of suffering. Sad. Both dogs are related do Death, but while the black shuck is Death's own hound, the white dog is the opposite: the dog even Death fears.

This is probably one of the most tragic SCPs I've seen. A dog that stayed by its master's side, even after it's own death, and trying to keep him alive, while unintentionally causing the owner to continuously suffer. I heard an addition to this SCP 1111, one of the tests... or incidents... whatever you call it, they are literally the same thing in this case. Another attempt to reach the man was made after the researchers saw that the hanged man is calling out to the dog to stop, and that he is attempting to get the D class to them. The attempt was now that a small army of D class was sent in to distract the dog, while one makes the attempt to reach the dog from completely different side. Apparently, that worked out, as the dog took too much time in killing the distraction unit and then rush at the one making his way to the hanged man. The D class indeed managed to get close to the man, and grab him by his foot, just before the dog could get to him. The moment the contact was made, the owner shouted at the dog to stay, and it obeyed, stopping, and not killing the D class. Even being docile enough to be patted on the head by the D class. It attacks anyone and everyone, considering it has the qualities of a spirit, being transparent and supernatural abilities that make it stronger and faster then anyone else. Not to mention it's red eyes grow brighter the closer it is to the body. It doesn't seem to care that it's body comes alive. It's a hell hound no matter how you look at it. There's so much unexplored with this one it's infuriating. No interactions with other scps, or the organization's advanced technologies, no one even considers trying to get the man down. Just, "Dog can can bite through metal and run super fast so I guess we just leave the guy to suffer and not bother learning anything really interesting about it" If the guy could be freed, him and the dog might be immortal so long as they're near eachother which has so many other interesting avenues to explore with other scp interactions. SCP-1111 The white dog was binded by the word "Loyal" with a curse to entrap his owner also. The owner finded something that defies death or was attacked by a demonic entity or even sacrificed for something to be held there(from within the white dog), the containment is for both the dog and the master, as the dog pose a treat only in that area where it is in physical form. It might be a portal that is opened under that tree or in that area. The owner has some answers. Use a decoy wih the dog to go affar from tree and try use high sound volume, dog flute, a prayer and see how it behaves - it might be more vulnerable to some spiritual weapons that way. It feeds on the suffering of the owner to stay in this plane of existence. Strange ideea... Take the tree with the man from a distance, see if dog completely vanishes - risky as it can attack helicopters, try the branch with some drones. I know what this is based off of! This is based off the white ghost dog of Sumner forest, he used to be the pet of a salesmen but he got hung on a tree due to a false crime and his dog still patrols the area.

I think they actually tried that but the dog ended coming back and the D-Class survived for a moment when he touched the body. At this point the man was alive and told the dog "No, Down boy!" It's not explained very well in this video but for a moment the dog was actually friendly and playful and the D-Class kept holding the man's foot, it all ended once a foundation sniper was ordered to fire at the dog. It actually made the dog bleed but the man kicked the D-Class away and the dog immediately got back up and killed the D-Class. So in a way the theory being repeated in the comments about the dog being a curse is already impossible seeing as the man didn't tell the D-Class to help him down and got aggressive when his dog was shot at. Hope this helps you understand something.
