I feel so bad for the Bookkeeper, such a nice person who couldn't prevent the inevitable
@greenshinigami55663 жыл бұрын
The only thing the book keeper could've done is to turn everything into the worst nightmare ever experienced to convince the researcher to not end his life moments after coming back to reality. He was able to prevent everything but couldn't bring himself to do it. Being too nice is bad,better be grey.
@ZeoViolet3 жыл бұрын
@@greenshinigami5566 That may not have been in his power. If his desire was to keep people happy, whatever gave him the power to do so might have had such a stipulation along with it, making sure the Bookkeeper knew the risks he was undertaking. He may have realized too late that people have extremely complicated minds, both conscious, unconscious, and subconscious. I'm speculating, but he had many chances to turn things too dark in order to get someone to wake up, but never did, and he was such a nice guy, if he'd had the power, he would have done so for a person's own good, instead of having to go along with what they wanted to do.
@greenshinigami55663 жыл бұрын
@@ZeoViolet Maybe,maybe not,can go both ways. Still i think the goodness got the better of him and the said researcher took advantage of it. Not to mention he admitted his mistake so i doubt it wasn't in his power,he probably didn't encounter such a sad person preferring dream fantasy over reality yet thus changing the scp behavior(making absolutely sure the hero doesn't lose themselves in the dream). After all it's not unlikely that an scp will change its behavior or itself as a whole,you never know.

Iirc, there have been offers and they've been turned down by the community. One major obstacle is that of IP. Program creators want to own what they create. SCP Foundation files are licensed under Creative Commons (Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0). This makes conceptualization of that idea rather complicated. Since all writers in the community have claims (and there are thousands), you'd need to buy out/clear them all individually. And showrunners wouldn't just want a handful of files, they'd want the whole thing, so acquisition framework would need to be agreed on by all parties, which would in turn involve _other_ people outside the community whose assets have been borrowed. And what about the future of the community post-acquisition?

5:49. Lol. Animals dream. Including cats. They also meow and wiggle their whiskers, ears, and paws in their sleep. My oldest kitty was hand raised after her mom couldn't be found. She was only a few weeks old and would nurse in her sleep. They pur while asleep. I'm pretty sure my little birb also dreams. He makes little twittery noises while he's seemingly asleep and he occasionally freaks out for no reason in the middle of the night. I assume because he had a nightmare. Anyone with a dog knows they dream too. Even the little ones. My mom has a chihuahua that was abused for years before my mom got her. She is terrified of anyone who speaks Spanish (the people who abused her spoke Spanish) and will just start shaking if she hears it. She still (It's been years) has nightmares and will whine and yelp in her sleep. My mom wakes her up and tells her it's ok. So animals can even be traumatized. Animals are more complex than some people think.

I would KILL to have this SCP in my possession. My lifelong dream has always been to live in a world of fantasy full of dragons and magic but it's impossible and I have to settle with a 9 to 5 job. And yeah I know that, it's exactly the way the Doctor that killed himself felt but I think you can resume the dreams just by reading the line again and falling asleep. My waking hours would become a nightmare in a more literal way and my time spent asleep could become my RL.

This story really speaks to me. I'm chronically I'll, and will be in pain my entire life. I probably won't live past my 40's. I've had a heart attack at 19, I'm sure that's how I'll die. This idea is something I think about often, and wish so badly I could have. To be in a fantasy world where I could be a hero, not held back by my physical limitations. I wish this was a real thing so badly...

If you think about it the researcher did live a long and fulfilled life in his own way. When you lived a full 200 years doing things that made you happy does it really make a difference if it was reality or fiction

I could see this SCP being used to train personnel to gain skill at containing specific known dangerous SCP in those dream simulation, of course, if both the SCP and the trained staff agree to other use than recreative ones.

Imagine using the desire camera on yourself and seeing what it prints, and then using this book to live out that desire in your dreams. Thats some deep introspection

This video hit me on another level. I think i'd probably end up the same like the professor who took his own life, if i ever had the book.

You could also go on holidays essentially from your real life. Imagine a period of great stress in your life and you went on a 2 year vacation on a dream world. Or you could live thousands of years by living decades in each dream.

I wouldn’t even go on the fantasy adventure, i’d just be happy to talk to the book keeper, i’m sure he’d enjoy a friendly chat

I showed this SCP to my fiancé, total book lover, mostly fantasy and YA. She immediately recognized 3 of the 4 titles the researcher put SCP-1230 next to at 11:30 by the cover art😂 No one appreciated that love for detail yet, so here you go. Thank you! And also - what's the first one with the white snake and roses? The others are, according to fiancé, Cemetery Boys, The Mirror Season and The Midnight Lie.

That last professor wasn't much of a hero, he selfishly refused to end his adventure and let the book keeper resume his work and eventually caused him immense depression over that professors death...

When the video said that the book changed and that the Old man regreted how things turned out with the proffesor, i was so afraid that its gonna be the same case as with Here be dragons. Im glad all went back to normal, meeting the Old man is probably amazing, maybe even more amazing than the dreams he shapes
