I have psychosis since I was very young. One hallucination that followed me around since primary school until my early 20's was of a big blue monster that help me calm down when anxious. As they usually manifest as a combination of childhood fears. I have a theory that if this continues the fears might be more internal taking on the ones that they are assigned to. This might also be a compounded problem because of a number of exiled people. Grenda may have taken on more maternal and paternal traits due to an underlying fear of family. The rules of the monsters are designed as to ensure that they don’t become one and the same with family and self . This is just a theory about how the society works
