So wait, let me get this straight 1. You see a poster that says "Lost Pet" with a reward on it. The pet is your pet. 2. You think that your pet is SCP-5543-2's pet and bring the poster home and call the said number 3. You return the pet and get a cash reward 4. The cash reward turns into a mutilated mass of what was the pet in concordance to the mass of said reward money 5. If the reward money's mass is greater than the original pet, the remainder will be maid up of the closest similar biological matter.
@Washeek2 ай бұрын

So, Madison, Wisconsin has a population of about 269840 (2020 estimate). According to a 2006 study by NHANES, the average American weighs about 153 pounds. In total, thats 269840*153 pounds or 41,285,520 pounds. An average penny weighs about 0.08818 ounces. Dividing 41285520 pounds by 0.08818 ounces gives us about 7,491,135,404. Converting pennies into dollars results in 74,911,354.04 dollars. According to NPR, the statistical value of a human life is about 1 to 10 million dollars, so it seems like this is within a factor of ten, which is actually pretty good when you're estimating such large and hard to define quantities. Plus, they might have used heavier coins like quarters or silver dollars, which would have lowered the reward money amount. Good SCP.

i dont think the currency conversion is clear, but i think should to be at the very least more biological material than what the animal (or person) would be, since it seems the event tends to get other random victims to pay for the conversion maybe it has to be with the "value" of the thing being taken? maybe if the chihuahua was bought for 200$, you get 5 times that mass to make up the 1000$
@cortesacrawford2 ай бұрын
I think it's supposed to be the physical weight of the money you get equivalent in biological material. But it's a bit unclear. The poster in the article is a lost cat for $7500, which is like 16lbs in $1 bills but .16lbs in $100 bills. The article needs some more details about the makeup of the currency. It needs a line about 5543-2 paying in $1 coins made of gold or something. Out of curiosity I did some math of the last addendum. To take out Madison, Wisconsin. The SCP had to offer around 22.2 billion dollars in $1 bills for the child.

Is there any lore on how the SCP foundation secured funds? I would imagine they use certain SCPs to do this.
@jwalster94122 ай бұрын
Some writers seem to assume the foundation is on an infinite budget and has observed levels of technology, (let's say enough of both the kill literally invincible 6th dimensional beings) others assume they are on a shoestring budget and barely are able to contain half of their anomalies, let alone ones that could do significant damage. I don't think there's really and definitely for how much funds the scp foundation has but I guess you could assume that some areas are extremely over funded and others are not so much.
@carto40282 ай бұрын
I'm not really sure how they get their money. The foundation is so large it's more like a global nation hiding within actual nations. The foundation demands complete autonomy as no nation would/could ever spur them. I imagine that allows a lot of leverage for economics.

Feeding the D-Classes with thst stuff is yet another creative cold shit the Foundation has come up with
@Rick5862 ай бұрын
My headcanon is that the anomaly doesn't kill the target and that the biological material is cloned flesh. The anomaly abducts the target because it believes that if the owner can be tricked by the poster, then they don't love the target enough to deserve to keep it. Thus the anomally believes that the owner would be just as satisfied with possessing a pile of meat as they would with possessing the target, so the anomally makes this exchange and then takes good care of the target for the remainder of the target's natural lifespan.
@necrowondo2 ай бұрын
the problem is that the reward mass does not neccesarily match the target, and will make up for it with similar living beings in the area, so why should anybody else be punished if its only the original owner's fault?
@Rick5862 ай бұрын
@@necrowondo If it's all cloned material, no animals are actually being injured at any point in this process (according to my theory at least). Plus, the whole selection of targets is based on the arbitrary judgment of the anomaly. Its motivations and reasoning are fundamentally unknowable, so whether or not the owners genuinely love their pets may have no bearing on whether or not they get selected. It's all up to whatever way the anomaly perceives them and their thoughts &/or actions. Therein lies the horror: this could happen to anyone. Edit: As for why other animal's biological material might make up the difference in mass for the payment, it might just be a limitation of whatever process the anomaly uses to clone the material. Maybe it just can't duplicate more matter than the target has for whatever reason.

But doesn't the last instance at the end imply that he would have to take care of a crazy amount of human instances?

Its either that the lab rat was involved with another SCP at some point or the entity just knows who is watching him and is going to do a massive troll by revealing hyper-classified information. I can only imagine the shocked faces of the scientists watching the footage, similar to Charlie and Pim watching the talk show on TV.

It sounds like one of those old messed up fairy tales where the moral is you're supposed to refuse to accept the reward money or your "greed" transforms you into a horrific monstrosity.

I'm just wondering, with the amount of scps, how many foundation members you think they're are? I'll say around 5-7million. What do you think?
@Washeek2 ай бұрын
It's obviously 5.7 million or in other words... Denmark.
