Initial reports of SCP-610 came direct from the Russian government through undisclosable channels.
SCP 610 appears to be a contagious skin disease at first with symptoms including rash, itching, and increased skin sensitivity. Within 3 hours the disease will cause blemishes resembling heavy scar tissue to form in the chest and arm areas, spreading to the legs and back within an additional hour, consuming the victim completely within five hours.
After the completion of the infection occurs the SCP610 victim's life functions will cease for approximately 3 minutes after which time they will restart at 2-3 times the activity rate of a normal human. Following this, the scar tissue on the victims will start to move of its own accord and grow at a rapid rate. Normal human features start to disappear at this point under the infection and the path of mutation appears to be largely random. Subjects observed in this stage of infection have been recorded as growing three or more limbs of a type such as arms or legs, the head may become misshapen and elongate or widen out, and parts of the subject may split open from which additional branches of flesh will grow. The duration of this stage of infection is unknown and not all subjects appear to progress to the later stages.

It's probably the fuel issue. Flamethrowers rarely make a very effective weapon with how quickly they run out of fuel, so unless they have anomolously enhanced ones (which I admit seems plausible in this universe at least), he's probably better off with those incendiary rounds. Not to mention he's doing it in close quarters. I'm not sure how flammable an SCP facility might be, but usually a flamethrower indoors is a bad idea.

Rick would then probably put a tiny piece in a test tube and take it home to make a cure for it, then sell the cure back to the SCP foundation for billions of flerbos or blemflarks, Whichever currency the SCP has on hand at the time. After a job well done, he takes Morty (and maybe Summer) on a week long bender to Blips & Chitz. That's just my guess, tho

Considering how this sort of thing usually plays out in an SCP story, they probably told the family a cover story about some sort of fatal, on-the-job accident. Maybe they change it up and make some of them car accidents or muggings gone wrong, but they always seem to have fake stories ready. They would've had this one prepped in advance for sure since they already knew he wasn't coming back.
