The reason the SCP foundation doesn't terminate or just kill anomalies/SCP's is because in some cases, the SCP can't be killed, transforms or still works when dead, or/and turns into something even worse like a universe ending scenario.

The website only allows one scp to occupy a number at a given time. Essentially when designing an scp it would be wise for the author to not assign it any number at first as it could end up going into just about any available slot.

FFHere are some of the standard Foundation object classess. Safe: Anomalies that are easily contained and sufficiently understood, and don't trigger their anomalous abilities unless intentionally activated. Classifying a anomaly as SAFE however doesn't mean handling or activating it won't pose a threat, a nuclear bomb for example would be considered safe. Euclid: Anomalies that are insufficiently understood and inherently unpredictable. Most autonomous or living SCPS are genereal classified as euclid. If your not really sure what will happen if you it leave alone and don't really understand what it can do then it is euclid. Keter: Anomalies that pose a massive threat to Foundation personnel and all life on earth. Keter class anomalies usually require complex and expensive containment procedures and are typically the most dangerous. However a Keter class SCP can still be harmless, but if it is difficult to contain then it would qualify as Keter. Thuamiel: A rare object class only known to the O-5 council or other high ranking personnel. Thuamiel SCPS are anomalies used to contain other anomalies. Explained: Anomalies that are so well understood to the point where their no longer considered anomalous. Have either been debunked as a hoax, their ablites can now be explained by mainstream science, or are so widespread and publicly known to the point where they are appected into normal life. Neutralized: Anomalies that have either been destroyed, killed, or simply stopped working either intentionally or accidentally. Esoteric: A special object class. Normally reserved for 1 SCP.

Ah, another person indoctrinated into the cult-like online phenomenon that is the SCP Foundation. Welcome and congratulations on picking one of the best videos to begin your introduction! Now what I’m going to say here is pretty important if you want to continue watching these amazing SCP videos. I also get a little rant-y and I guess the latter half of this is a hot-take. I’m pretty sure it’s widely accepted that most people who view SCP content agree that animated SCP videos aren’t their cup of tea, and I agree with this. Personality I only enjoy watching animated scp videos from scp illustrated and on occasion DrBob whilst everything else I could not care for. My reasons for this is because the initial appeal for me (and I suspect many other people) is the fact that the scp foundation is heavily grounded in reality. Most of us found this stuff as curious teens or kids on the internet early on, and back then everything related to scp content was grounded in gritty realism, no animated cartoons. The reason we loved it so much was because it seemed _So Real!_ These things were supposed to be interesting and most importantly, _Scary!_ The only thing we had to base these creatures off of was the text, an image on the page if we were lucky, and our over active imaginations which would constantly ask “What if that thing were real?”, “God, thinking about this thing makes me so uncomfortable” and “I’m going to have nightmares tonight”. Kids like to watch stuff made for older demographics because it’s different from the constant pandering that comes from normal kids content, and regular scp readings get that point across extremely well. Channels like TheRubber tackle this mature content in a fashion which is catered specifically towards children, making it seem like he’s talking down to a classroom full of children instead of a classified document being disclosed to a set of novice researchers in a professional office environment. Where I’m going with this is I highly recommend checking out more SCP channels but to get the best experience personally into this world I don’t recommend those highly saturated and at times cheaply made animated videos which caters towards a younger audience. So there ends my rant, I apologise for this literal essay but this stuff is really important to me and I want to make sure that new people have the best introduction into this. I understand that the animated videos are better in the way of content for a reaction and I’m not hating if you do, so just take this with a grain of salt. On that note, I do have a recommendation for a video you should watch. I know you’re planning on viewing 096 from a mass request next, so all I ask is when you eventually get to *TheVolgun* you have to watch his video covering *SCP-087* first. The video itself is an older one in the style of a classic reading but the most important part of the document is featured as a professionally done acted part. I really don’t want to spoil too much but just know that the video is hands down the best SCP-087 reading for its atmosphere, and you just have to watch it to understand what I mean.

The immortal reptile that is mentioned is one of the few they actually try to destroy. The others they just contain and study. But the immortal reptile is just so dangerous and hostile that they try just about anything to kill the damn thing. Has not worked out well so far, some options have been eliminated before them even trying since the reptile can adapt to things and gain abilities related to it. So the foundation has outright rejected the idea of using nukes on it since that could still fail AND give it the ability to cause much more destruction than a simple nuke can.

I’m only half way through so I don’t know if it explains it, but on the topic of destroying anomalies: it’s very possible. However, the SCP foundation views this as an absolute last resort measure, as their philosophy is hilt around containing and protecting. However the SCP is not the only faction in this universe. The GOC, Global Occult Coalition, is a military organization funded by the UN. Their primary objective is to destroy everything anomalous. Occasionally The two orgs work together but just as frequently they are enemies. For a good look at an interaction between the two, and why the foundation is often more correct, check out SCP 1609. Some other interesting organizations: -the Serpent’s Hand, a group of extra dimensional scholars that want to make the anomalous known to everyone -The Chaos Insurgency, a group of rogue ex-foundation terrorists who want to unleash the anomalies and wreck reality -Are We Cool Yet, a group of anomalous artists who make deadly exhibits -Marshal, Carter, and Dark, a mysterious company that auctions off low risk anomalies to the ultra wealthy -The Church of the Broken God, a clockwork religious cult that is at eternal war with an equally terrifying blood cult called the Sarkiks. Its listed what numbers are up for grabs for a new SCP, and my understanding is you have to get approval from the general community to solidify writing a new scp, but im not too educated on that process. I do know they hold contests for every 1000th SCP - SCP1000, SCP2000, etc. Basically, anyone can write one, and everyone decides if its good enough or not...I think

That's not entirely true, to create an anomaly you have to first get your idea greenlit by one or two people, following the greenlighting process you can begin drafting. If you feel your anomaly is good enough you can then post it. If your anomaly recieves a rating of negative ten or lower it will be removed from the wiki. After getting greenlit the first time you don't have to ever get greenlit again.

10:14 There have been Instances where SCPs were terminated - some intentionally, some by accident. There have also been Instances where Termination Attempts have made everything worse. There can't be a general answer to the question if they can be terminated because their properties vary wildly. For example it would probably be pretty easy to terminate the Key that opens every Lock, but it's essentially impossible to terminate SCP-682 (the Lizzard). Also, whenever you try to terminate an SCP you take the risk that that makes it worse. As someone once greatly put it in an SCP Article that dealt with what can go wrong when you try to terminate lots of SCPs (in that case they tried to get ridof every living Anomaly): "The fact that they're alive is the least anomalous thing about them."

13:22 Oh they absolutely do tons of Background Checks. Keep in mind though that Mobile Task Forces have vastly differing tasks and thus require different qualifications from their personnel. You don't need to be an extremely good Diver if you join MTF Nu-7 "Hammer Down" which is basically the Foundations Private Army. If you join MTF Gamma-6 "Deep Feeders" though, you would probably have to be an extremely skilled Diver, as they deal with Oceanic Anomalies. For Iota-10 "Damn Feds" you would have to be an active Member of some sort of Law Enforcement Agency, as you would essentially be a Foundation Mole.

15:01 You gotta keep in mind that the Foundation is most often presented as morally deeply grey - so they quite often do outright evil stuff, because it is still the least evil option from their point of view. For example they take D-Class from any Source where People generally won't be missed (or at least them disappearing won't attract a lot of attention): Homeless People, Orphans, Refugees, etc. They might also use more anomalous Sources though, such as Hell.

If someone make a new SCP and gave it the number of an already existing SCP, then that SCP's numbers would be replaced with the available number. For example: Someone created a new SCP and gave it the number 1000, but SCP-1000 already exist, so the number will be replaced with the latest number, let's say 7000 is available, then the new SCP will be known as SCP-7000. And I believe the wiki already has a system in place.

I personally suggest starting out with reacting to individual SCPS before going into the deeper lore. Try to avoid stuff like SCP-001 proposals or SCP-5000 since those tend reference other SCPS and stuff about the Universe that a newbie (Like yourself.) won't get.
