The thing about anomalous objects is that they're... well, anomalous; they follow arcane, poorly-understood rules, and those kinds of unknown variables are exactly what you want to minimize when you're containing anomalies. It's for this very reason that SCPs are very rarely cross-tested with one another, and this kind of cascading failure is exactly what caused the events of the game *SCP: Containment Breach*

To add on, the MTF's choice of jeans and shirts can be beneficial from chemical safety perspective though a bit lacking from CBNR perspective regarding airborne compounds that can penetrate skin. Then again, if the MTF members’ clothing was not regulated their clothing choice could be disastrous. Granted, I doubt that the writers considered the other impacts of their clothing choice. Nevertheless… It may sound odd, but in laboratories your secondary protective equipment is a t-shirt, jeans and tennis shoes or equivalent stuff made of cotton. Your primary protective clothing should, of course, be based on a risk analysis and review of MSDS’ (Material Safety Data Sheets), which could include but is not limited to lab coats (generally made of cotton and chemically resistant polymers), goggles (various kinds), gasmasks or other breathing apparatus (various kinds), gloves (various kinds) and outer layers (various kinds). In a similar fashion to military gear, laboratory protective equipment is chosen for a specific set of circumstances as a trade-off between dexterity, comfort and protection. I will oversimplify a bit and propose to you the following similarity: avoiding a spill in the first place -> ensuring that you survive or are not impeded by the spill avoiding getting shot in the first place -> ensuring that you survive or are not impeded by the shot Now consider that the MTF’s have often no idea what they are stepping into. For such situations cotton in a good all-round choice for clothing. Why? Cotton is chemically inactive or at least chemically resistant to most acids, bases and inorganic solvents - less so for organic solvents. More importantly it is also cheap and disposable (even recyclable). Of course, synthetic fabrics would be even cheaper, but they are less resistant to compounds due to their more regular structure and weaker intermolecular interaction - and they tend to stick to your skin after decomposed trapping compounds on your skin, which is BAD. Cotton is porous so it can contain a spill for a few moments anyway until it seeps through. Thus, after something spills on your clothing even if it penetrates your outer layers, you will have time to remove your secondary layer before the spill comes to contact with your skin. As jeans especially tear easily, you can remove the affected area without difficulty with scissors or your bare hands. I have never had to resort to any emergency procedures in the lab, but luckily some lovely people worked out all the probable and improbable safety questions decades ago - just in case or to prevent future incidents. If this makes laboratory work sound horribly dangerous, do not worry. It is very safe. Safety procedures and SOPs save lives. Edit: And there are a few ways to make cotton clothes waterproof and non-flammable, but my favourite is ionized xenon gas to form organoxenoncompounds (has to be done in a lab, do not try at home. Argon or another noble gas that forms a stable compound can also be used). There are some commercial products too.

They did only have a week to film this, which sounds like a lot but when you're actually doing it runs out pretty fast.

I think the whole reputation of everyone in the scp foundation dying young is a bit of a misconception. Although certain keters and groups of interest can cause the foundation lots of casualties these instances are relatively few and far between.

Some of the MTFs mentioned are: Epsilon-6 (aka: Village Idiots) specializes in the investigation, containment, and subsequent cleanup of anomalies in rural and suburban environments. Who are the 'canaries' in this instance. Nu-7 (aka Hammer Down) a battalion-strength force brought in for when the Foundation needs heavy ordinance on a location. Who are the main body of the QRF. With specialists from Zeta-9 (aka Mole Rats) who specializes in the investigation, exploration, and containment of underground or enclosed areas exhibiting anomalous phenomena, particularly those with inconsistent topography or unstable spacetime. Mu-13 (aka Ghostbusters) who specializes in dealing with incorporeal or intangible manifestations and entities, particularly those believed to be sentient, sapient, or otherwise intelligent and adaptive. Beta-7 (aka Maz Hatters) the primary CBRN MTF. And lastly, Lambda-5 (aka White Rabbits) who specializes in traversing unstable, surreal, and controlled reality, and containing potentially dangerous persons and artifacts capable of manipulating space and time. Nu-7 is just a large SCP force that gets brought in for any situation that calls for, well, the need to bring the Hammer Down. Mass breakouts and large scale engagements are what they are used for, or in this case, create a massive cordon around an area of interest, but also provide heavy duty backup if needed.

The title shot got the silhouette effect by having the camera at ground level as the team approached at ground level. Tactically they were still solid as they were walking out of their LZ which was flat and tree lined all around. Others already covered the flannel and jeans bit for that particular MTF. The hole the chemlight was dropped down was directly below where the floating civilian was in the debrief. Hence why it was treated with such care. Sidenote: 'Roger' and 'Wilco' were common Naval radio calls back during my service in the 90's. Any radioman could use 'roger' as an acknowledgement, but only the CO, XO, CIO, or the OOD could use or authorize a 'wilco' response. The chillness came to the MTF after the initial recon of the hole because it didn't immediately prove hostile and looking further down was the responsibility of another MTF (the Mole Rats that are mentioned). A great deal of the inconsistencies in their terrain movements and especially in their building clear tactics was a result of goofs in editing. In particular the primary target being out in the open like he was. He was supposed to show up to one side of the 2nd floor hall. And yes, they had a top tier tactical advisor. A behind the scenes video talks about how the cast were put through about 14 hours worth of building clear drills to get it right. The missing persons posters was the first scene that gave me the chills, mainly because they were placed directly along the MTF's approach route. The burning effigy approach and walk-by was a one-take show by necessity because of scheduling, lighting, and only being able to burn the effigy once. The owner of the farm land didn't quite understand what was going on so he started rolling the hay bales while they were setting up for the shot so they just added them in. The 'out of the fog' shot was also cluttered because it was multiple MTF teams converging (inner cordon and scouts together). The door bunching I think was one of those balance between tactics and camera work shots.

@@valashar5313 I didn't get a really good look at all the posters and I didn't work on the project. All I can say is that the first one we get a good look at, looked like a soldier out of his gear. That coupled with the comment "It would seem we are expected" made me think that the posters were them. That would be a really creepy effect wouldn't it? To go on a raid mission and find posters detailing YOUR disappearance, nailed to trees on the route you were taking to get there.

the reason the main team we watch are dressed semi casually besides all their gear is cause they are the village idiots they specialize in urban environments usually so their "uniform" is just causal clothing and what gear they need for the mission this gives them the best chance to blend in before amnestics are given to the local populace amnestics are basically the neuralyzer from Men in black in drug form and are usually given to witnesses of any anomaly as if the more of the world found out it could be mass panic and they already have enough problems with 3 other organizations

Getting the military stuff right in this film was really important to director Stephen Hancock so he hired two military tactical advisory people Cory Hanes (who plays "Jansen" in this movie) and Tai (Who did advising on the first films SCP: Dollhouse and SCP: First Contact ) who are both military vets who have been deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq and led missions. They did their best to get the details down as much as they could.

There was(is?) an entire platoon of Level 3+ reality bender MTF with bombs in their brain in case they go awall. Some MTF members can literally kill you in the past like that girl with a camera. Alpha 1 is theorized to be as power as Omega 7 and there countless more that are so kickass Rambo would literally loose sanity from mere glimpse at horrors they face. There are MTFs and their branches so secretive even Foundation itself doesn't know (or physically can know) they exist! Now that's hardcore!

@@zhangeldy4097 Please give me examples. The only “immortal cyborg” MTF I heard of, is Tau-5 “Samsara”. Besides that, Tau-5 is just experimental, not really a unit often used in combat. Alpha 1 and Omega 1 are just another top secret, special forces unit. The only difference to other elite MTFs is, that they are the best of the best and report to the O5 council/ethics committee. Alpha 1 operatives are nothing more, than the O5s personal hitmen. Ps: How can MTFs exist, even the whole foundation doesn’t know about?

28:12 I think the reason they called weapons free is mostly due to the fact that they don't know what's in the house yet, and given the fact the SCP foundation has run into SCPs that can take control of a person, anyone coming out of the house that didn't announce that move over radio is probably hostile, even the search team themselves.

To be fair, the MTF they are portraying is under the unit name of the 'Village Idiots'. They are a specialized unit that works in rural environments, such as within the confines of a small town or village. If something goes wrong and either 1). Exfil was unsuccessful, and is believed to be impossible at this point of time. 2). All communications are cut off, and the unit has reason to believe that exfil is also compromised. Then they can begin moving towards nearby cities and, on arrival within a large radius of the city, they can bury and abandon (or even destroy) the tactical gear, allowing themselves to blend in with the civilian population and attempt contact with a Foundation agent. Then again, I am not exactly an expert on this subject. I just hope this helps out a bit.

The reasons they actually wear the casual wear underneath is actually lore-based due to the need to maintain secrecy. If they have to go into a populated area they need to be able to blend in both to not alert the public, and confuse enemies who may be tracking them. The different ways the foundation does things and their tactics are fascinating.

The SCP Foundation's Mobile Task Force units have such young members because each task force has a survival rate of no more than 5 years at maximum and the members inside each unit have about 3 years as a survival rate, mind you they pull from literally every agency from every country across the globe and still have problems keeping their task forces full of personnel.

The RoE thing, he mentions it because in this universe the SCP foundation often acts outside of international and national laws, and regularly breaks your typical military’s RoE. For example, part of the SCP foundation involves torturing people to attract certain SCPs back to their cells (the femur breaker for example)

The reason why the MTF is so young is because of the mortality rate and the elasticity of their bodies for improvement and modification. The SCP uses all military terminology due to the fact that SCP officials can commandeer any and all militaries around the world.

As someone who has been in a multi-national paramilitary group, I can tell you that terms from all services get thrown around but they are dominated by the American and British terms. This is mainly because most other nations we work with used Brit and American forces as the example to follow after WW2. Not that it matters since no one went out cold on a mission until they had trained with the group and got used to the SOP we operated under.

So to explain the B-roll shots: they often use games such as Arma and GTA for those shots. Arma in particular is a mil sim game that has a lot of military elements available and many players of it understand basic military tactics and knowledge. The shots with the ISR for example could be a zeus player screen with thermal on. Zeus players are often seen as BDOC, ATC, CO, etc. And are basically on the same level as a DM in DnD. They have a full overview of the games and are capable of spawning enemies or providing assistance by sending ally NPCs. Hope this info helps, and if your curious about Arma, especially Zeus duties, i highly recommend Liru's channel. He often records his Zeus ops and they're fun to watch

A lot of shows and movies that are realistic about the SEALs would using names with a theme of beer, names of famous people to tell TOC where they are without revealing on open comms where they actually are.

One thing about the SCP Foundation is that different MTF’s (Mobile Task Forces) can be trained and outfitted to handle specific tasks. For example: In the film, they mentioned the some “Mole Rats” were going to be sent in to look at the hole. The Mole Rats (aka MTF Zeta-9) are trained to operate in enclosed areas like underground caverns, or the Kowloon Walled City (read SCP-184 for that). MTF Pi-1 (“City Slickers”) specialize in operating in densely populated urban areas like New York City. MTF Alpha-4 (“Pony Express”) specialize in intercepting anomalies sent through the postal service. MTF Omega-7 (“Pandora’s Box”) was an attempt to use anomalous humanoids to secure other anomalies. I say “was” because the MTF was decommissioned after one of the SCPs on the team (SCP-076 [Able]) disabled the explosive collar he was required to wear as part of the team and went off on a murderous rampage. Lastly, MTF Tau-5 (“Samsara”) are a team of four cyborgs cloned from a dead god, who can backup their memories to be uploaded into new bodies if they die, and are usually only activated if the Foundation is dealing with an anomaly that’s so dangerous they can’t risk sending any other MTF in to deal with it (give SCP-1730 a read to see them in action).

Your observation about phase lines was correct in the context of the story. The TOC officer who gave them the mission details at the beginning actually says "Mission code ideas go on the whiteboard in the back" but the subtitles don't catch it. My guess is they took inspiration from the CBS show SEAL Team. I haven't seen mission codes used that way in any other shows or movies.

They are using proper but loose radio protocol. Not using "hey you this is me" and "this is me, send your traffic". Its not strictly enforced depending on the net size and type and but with them sending a report up to command on a net that likely has many elements on it this is surprising. They do get identification right with callsigns and squad/fireteam designation. And they actually get the usage of over vs out correct. You cannot imagine the special kind of hell it is for a Comm Marine to watch this stuff in most media...
