I love the fact that despite every single attempt to kill him has failed, and the odds are in his favor that his adaptability would allow him to overcome the suns effects, seeing as how he was hit with a sword that is three times hotter than the sun, that he's simply not going to take that chance. Brains and raw power to go with it. He's truly become the only thing more terrifying than the gelatinous sun monsters wandering around, seeing as how he can destroy and devour them no matter how large they get. And he knows all the Foundations tricks, where to hunt for their bases and how to break into them. I wouldn't put it past him to try and settle some old scores either, such as trying to find a way to expose the Old Man to sunlight and see what happens.

Seeing as SCP 682 was killing people indiscriminately even before it was contained, as far as I have gathered, the termination attempts can't be the main reason for his hatred. It could be a contributing factor, but not all of it. And while some of the attempts have infuriated it, but most of the time he seems just amused by the Foundations desperate attempts. I love the story though.

One of my pet peeves of the original when day breaks is that it just goes "screw you all other SCPs can't do jack everything is just over". Because to me the most fun part of SCP stories is how different ones interact with one another. Which is why I prefer it when When day breaks is not unstoppable so that people can struggle against it.

Fun fact: The photons when day breaks is not affected if reflected, making moonlight deadly. Since the moon was shown at night in 18:26, this means 682 is completely immune to the sun, I'm just waiting for a sequel for when 682 finds out he's immune. It's also possible the scarlet king and when day breaks are somehow linked since all of his children who have been included in the when day breaks series was unaffected by the sunlight, both 999 and 682, so maybe the scarlet king's children were innately born with the immunity to SCP 001. Even crazier, the scarlet king might have been the cause of when day breaks. Edit: But that's just a theory... A FILM THEORY!

There's something i got to think about... When day breaks is defined as a separate timeline in the SCP cannon, right? And, through the Infinite IKEA, people from different timelines can meet each other, right? Then, hypothetically speaking, someone or something from the When Day Breaks timeline could actually cross through the Infinite IKEA and not only meet people from the main universe but also, if they're lucky enough to find the exit door from the IKEA, ACTUALLY end up in the main SCP Universe. Imagine this, the SCP foundation seize into custody someone that escaped this timeline and gives them more information about SCP 001, or even a converted human actually gets captured and studied by the Foundation.

SCP has no official canon, it's more of a community project/database. The closest thing to a "official canon" is the SCP Wikia, and yeah, When Day Breaks is a tale that exists separate from the Wikia. There actually is a tale that involves 3008 specifically, and it involves a woman that witnesses some of the fleshy blobs enter the IKEA and attack both humans and the staff. She eventually finds the exit, but the exit leads her into the When Day Breaks universe, and she ends up melting; she was originally from a universe that didn't have the broken day.

For the most part, the pain is the melting part because it's not within the human pain tolerance. It gets to be europhoria because such agony can make one delirious. I cant imagine it being painless unless it was instantaneous. Attempts have already been made to use SCP-1237 to nullify SCP-682's abilities and kill it, but have failed. Incidentally, they have already used SCP-001 itself "When Day Breaks" and 682 has adapted becoming something similar to SCP-575 only more advanced, obviously surviving. Let's give this comment enough attention so they see it The entire When Day Breaks situation has got the SCP spread thin and basically out of commission to point that multiple anomalies are roaming free But we're forgetting one more thing that could be extremely catastrophic if extremely close attention and resources are not put into maintaining, attention and resources that the foundation simply does not have now....and that ladies and gentlemen is Procedure 110 Montauk What happens when the SCP foundation is so disrupted and with so limited resources that they just cant maintain the procedure anymore or what happens when the D Classes who are supposed to perform the procedure realise that this crisis is their chance to escape and do so leaving the last bride to bleed out and die releasing the Scarlet King and how does the Scarlet King react to an anomaly that has already claimed the world that was his to conquer Or even better yet during this crisis elaborate containment processes for high level anomalies like the Destroyer of Worlds and The Deer can no longer continue and they break free and they all with the Scarlet King come face to face with each other

If anyone is wondering if scp 682 could adapt to the sun, well he he can because he has done it before. SCP-682 introduced to SCP-001. SCP-682 slowly converted into an instance of -A. Notably, 682 didn't retreat after the inset of its conversion. However, the -A instance SCP-682 did not exhibit signs of movement nor any kind of responsiveness. I've heard whispers and hateful groans from the corners. Appears to be saying something, but I cannot make it out. Saw some of the shadows snatch up some of the -A's. Never saw them after that. Hopefully, it's just an advanced form of SCP-575. … It isn't that, is it? Don't tell me that SCP-682 became darkness itself. … … … What did I expect?

Most narratives work better if it got him, cuz he’s extremely dangerous & even under these circumstances wouldn’t team with the foundation.

@@BlindCoyoteGod that's actually false there is a story I read where the statue was multiplying before that 682 told the foundation that they're making a bad mistake by not destroying the statue and he was right because multiply and became an XK class scenario and you forget about SCP the little girl I think scp-053 I believe he and no hatred towards her and seem to enjoy being around her and freaked out when they were separated so he has some good in there if he did he would have killed that girl I think he's more of broken and Evil we don't know his backstory he has multiple backstory being an alien from the dimension from being the son of the Scarlet King so many possibilities to even be in the Devil Himself

It's actually interesting how you put the story. I thanked that you all didn't make that theory of '682 would adapt to sun' because for me it greatly diminishes when day breaks horror by just pumping the reptile op-ness because it's the fandom favorite. Well, it adapted, but by being casious and using its mind. Although i don't know if it always will fare well against the flesh, because that thing doesnt need to kill him, just needs to take him to the sun and it can engulf him and take it with him. Also, unless is in very small dosis, the flesh could attack him from the inside if he tries to devour it. That being said, entertaining story

Keep in mind that as long as SOMETHING can touch the amulet, Bright's consciousness will transfer. They don't even NEED to wear it. Meaning if something touches 963, Bright will wear the amulet.

I'm pretty sure some entities would be fine as 999 proved. As for 2935 O-Death, well, 682 isn't technically impossible to kill the foundation just hadn't found anything that COULD kill it yet. Also, Dr. Bright's amulet isn't organic, so unless I misunderstand something about When Day Breaks, it wouldn't even be affected as WDB doesn't do a blanket negation on any anomalous power/entity, just anomalous powers from organic beings. It's kind of a mess trying to compare and mix all these different anomalies and slot in what they can do.

Most likely the hand would hide in the wanderers library. Plus woth humanity dying from the sun, what would happen to the scarlet king, who only gains power through the knowledge of his existence.

The Serpent's Hand may have already known that this was going to happen given that they have access to almost unlimited knowledge. I'd assume that very few, if any, of the members actually perished when the event began. They'd provide refuge to anomalies that they find. Also, there is a tale (albeit an unpopular one) that addresses the Chaos Insurgency; all members of the Delta Command have survived by exploiting SCP's, and a sizable amount of their fighting force remains. They occasionally raid human groups/settlements and SCP Foundation safe zones in order to kidnap people and steal supplies.

I always wondered. Because the sun's light takes approxamently 8 minutes to reach Earth, wouldn't the Foundation have like a satellite or something closely monitoring the Sun (they have the technology/SCPs to do it without the object getting destroyed)? That way they would have some panic time and be able to alert the world to go into lockdown before 001's attack.

Unfortunately information to and from a satellite travels using radio waves, which travel at the speed of light. So by the time the information reaches the earth, so would the sunshine. However that is ignoring anomalies but the bigger issue is that no one in the SCP foundation really believed that the sun would turn against them.

Here’s a theory: When the Desire Camera took a picture of 682, he was shown mauling the cameraman and all of the guards in the room. But the desire camera can reveal simple whims, someone’s deepest desires, or anything in between. Not just what they want the absolute most. With what we’ve seen of 682, he’s extremely intelligent, so I doubt that that was his deepest wish. (Though he definitely wanted to kill them too. We are talking about the hard to destroy reptile here.) It’s probably to die. I mean, come on.
