Great video, I just picked up a pair of Kappa 6x9s and a pair of Kappa 6.5”s for my doors. Watching this gave me an idea on what to expect when installing on my Jeep Commander. Although my ride doesn’t come with pre-drilled holes for tweeters. Thanks!

Typically, it's best to keep the crossover in the vehicle since inside the door panel gets wet. If it can't fit between the door panel and vapor barrier, you should shop for components with an internal crossover like the Rockford Fosgate P165-SI. That particular 6.5 set has an output for the tweeter. I'm sure it's fine the way you did it, it's a common way of doing it, it's just not the best way if it can be avoided.

So how can you ever remove the door card without yanking the wiring from the tweeter to the crossover in your door without having to cut the tweeter wires?

Why kind of bit did you use in the Dremel to cut the plastic piece on the tweeter? Thanks for the great video. My best friend just gave his mint 2002 Suburban 1500 LT. Suburban doesn’t have a scratch on it and the leather front seats he redid so the interior is mint. Only thing is I’m not into red for cars and wish mine was white like yours. I’m sure all the surrounds are bad on all the speakers like yours because it sounds terrible. So I’m putting in some CT Sounds Meso 6.5 2 way components. Wish I would have bought the 3 ways instead but I think I’ll add an extra small driver to make it a 3 way but need to figure out it’s seperate crossover so if you or any views have some ideas on crossing over say a 3-1/2” drive please reply. I’ve always repaired my own cars but haven’t done much stereo electronics other than adding speakers to factory locations. I have almost 100 sq ft of Fat Mat so I’ll do the doors because in our Camry it really made a big difference and so nice how it dampens road noise also. For amps I have several I bought that are NOS from the company that made the Poweramper amps before they went out of business years ago that are SQ amps. Bought a couple EQ’s and couple pair of 5-1/2” Poweramper component speakers which I’ll probably install in my wife’s Camry or Odyssey van.

Does the front stage sound full enough and detailed? Could it use maybe a 2nd tweeter up higher?

Hey! Thank you for a Great video and Nice work. I am middle of this myself in my 2002 LT suburban. And I wonder it is better to use a crossover like you do, then use the original power cables to the tweeter? To information; I have the original head unit.

I would use the crossovers to ensure the correct frequencies go to each speaker.

Nice Video. I have a 2003 Avalanche. No Bose. I still have the original stock GM, CD/radio. Because of the separate tweeter in front, is there a cross over anywhere? I just installed another mid range from Parts Express. I don't know if my unit would deliver enough power to drive new component speakers. Good Idea on how you replaced the tweeter. I did reuse the original speaker mount. Hard to find just a single driver midrange by itself. The GRS 6AS frequency range is 75 hz to 10khz 40watt RMS and 88DB. If I ever upgrade my unit, I have your video . thanks

You are very welcome, and thanks for the kind words. No, without Bose there is no separate crossover unit, only capacitors on the factory tweeter to filter out lower frequencies. Your factory head unit would power components fine, however they wouldn't have the sound quality you would get from a modern head unit.

If using the factory amp and wiring, what do I do with original tweeter wires? Do I just run the original woofer wires only as the IN? Will that send the full signal to the crossover if the original tweeters were getting the highs by their own wire? Or do I need to jump them or something else?

I have a 2002 Chevrolet suburban 1500 LT. Originally had the stock bows, however we moved to JBL some years ago. After the balls blown. Now my right door speaker is buzzing. Do you think they could be a bad speaker or wire? If so, if it’s a bad speaker, what size speakers should be used?

A 2002 Suburban 1500 should use the same size door speakers as mine, however if you have Bose it may be different. Best way to check is get the door panel off and measure, check out my how-to video on the door panel removal for more info.

@@fastpaxSCR Yo what's bro. I got 2004 Yukon with bose system. The factory tweeters are installed on the A pillar how can I wire them to that location, I noticed that yours are installed on the door.

are you using the factory amp or do you have an amp installed? also are you using original head unit?

U can use them without one just be carful not to make them clip and then when u get a amp take it apart and just intertwine the speaker wires and run the to the 2 Chanel amp

I bought these speakers. They are waaaaay worse than what most youtubers say. It is very expensive and wasting for the money. By the way my sound system is top notch (good quality 12 gauge wires, high end SONY stereo, Rockford fosgate 500W AMP, so on. Sound is just OK. Nothing else

Thanks for the feedback, I really can't compare these to other aftermarket options...so for this video it was more how do they compare to the old stock stuff ;)
