Chuck was absolutely right - it was ridiculous that they constantly used uncommonly used letters for stoppers as the contestants would instantly know that they pulled letters that were no good. I'm surprised that more people didn't do the fake guess/pass over the stopper routine over the years.

Remember, once you pick tiles, you have to use one before you can guess again.

He's the best Scrabble champion to make it to the cap, even if it was the stupid "champion never plays the Scrabble Crossword ever again" format. On the bright side, at least it wasn't Scrabble Showdown with Justin Willman.

@@alexhoule1824 - Another thing to hate about those early Scrabbles. Annoying beeping sounds and/or buzzer sounds during the main game. Thank goodness that was eliminated when they self contained the episodes later on.

@Mr. Rick Rhino C[& everybody else] here, yes, in year 1986, this "Scrabble" game show had Mr. Charles "Chuck" H. Woolery as its former host just as his previous studio announcer there was late Mr. Arthur W. Ferguson [though professionally known as "Charlie Tuna"]!

Champion John Heaner wins 10th match in Scrabble Sprint Bonus Round + $40,000 dollars!! He retires undefeated with grand total of $66,000 dollars!!
@HunterDillon952 жыл бұрын
Actually no, he left with $40,000 flat. This was late in the first format where 5 Sprint wins augments a champ's winnings to $20,000, while 10 Sprint wins augments a champ's total winnings to $40,000.

John Herner came back in May 1986 for the Tournament of Champions edition of “Scrabble” and he won the cash. There was an episode where John was a contestant in the “Tournament of Champions”, but sadly, the episode is still lost.
