I like the Will Anderson shoutout with RETINAS! And good advice on thinking about which leave has the most potential for improvement when deciding between two plays that leave each other. Though it is also useful to think about what will stay open more of the time.

Challenge idea: create a wheel with all alphabet letters. Spin the wheel, and whatever letter it lands on, every play you make must include that letter, excluding overlaps.
