Put some of your fabric stash in there until you get a chance to use it up! That would also make it a little heavier, to be stronger in holding the door open. :

Pola, you are correct, quilters are some of the most generous people around. I am always thinking of what I can do or make for others. This is a great idea and I appreciate all your time and effort. You are much appreciated. Keep up the good work.

I will be putting Bricks in mine, to hold the door 'open', for unloading groceries inside!

I put some rice but brick or stones will do great 👍

What a fantastic idea. With the warmer weather fast approaching these will keep the door from slamming shut or blowing all the way open. It was windy today and I came home to find my porch door wide open with my current quilt blocks all over the floor. They blew off my design wall. I agree the call for quilts is too soon. These folks need shelter, food and medical supplies now. Quilts come as they begin rebuilding their lives. Pray for them daily so the Lord hears our voices.

Ive just discovered your quilting channel. I love the endless possibilities that result from your creations. My 87 yr old mother and I have been quilting and sewing for EVER!!! We have tons of scraps. Thanks for your ideas. They are the best . Im amazed that you do so much beautiful work with "just" scraps. Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work. Praying for Ukraine and the WORLD.

I love this idea, I’m going to make some and keep them by my machine to fill with all the little scraps from sewing 👍. You could also make draught excluders in the same way 🙂

These are so cute. All along, I thought those won't hold a door open? Then, at the end, your use made sense, LOL.

What you could do is put a small bag of sand in it to give it some more weight. Nice project - thanks for sharing. Without handle, it could be a tissue dispenser, make-up case, lots of things, especially with zipper on the side.
@polaquilting2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, you can customise to what you like to use it for. If you lookup Update #6 video I also came up with other bits you can use to fill it in. Thank you for watching ❤️

@@polaquilting Will do. I like your videos because you use a lot of scraps and I sewed scrappy quilts alongside my grandmother. I'm starting again... so please like my channel, too. I will be uploading new quilt piecing videos soon!

Chris Hunt North Wales - silver sand would be a heavier option to holding the door back if through drafts are a problem in summer time. Love the idea, thanks Pola

What a really cute idea and great idea to use up strips and batting strips. You might think of using something a bit heavier to keep the door open. A plastic bag of dry sand is some gravel, marbles, ro c KS or something like that. Just my 2 cents worth. Love the idea. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
@polaquilting2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, yes heavier things depending where you use your stopper xx

If you are using sand buy sterilized sand. It is called “ play sand” here and you buy it at the hardware store. Crushed walnut shells would work as would clay kitty litter. ❤️your ideas.

I shared on my Facebook so hopefully that will help to spread this campaign. The Ukrainian people need our support so much. Quilters are definitely generous with their time and talents. On another note, I could see making some easy cosmetic travel bags, etc. like this. What size bias tape are you using to cover around the zipper and handles? Thanks for sharing all you do with us. I appreciate it so much.
@polaquilting2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing. I use 18mm ready bias tape but check last tutorial, I just published cosmetic pouches tutorial xx

Beautiful Pola, but fabric scraps will not keep a door from slamming - rather fill the plastic bag with river sand or silica sand used for swimming pool filters, something heavy but fluid. I cut off old jeans legs and fill them with sand for door stops, not as pretty as yours !!!
@polaquilting2 жыл бұрын
I needed mine to stop banging the wall behind the door so scraps only were fine. To stop doors from slamming I used rice as a main filler and then scraps to fill the gaps, sand or stones will work too.
