This video shows how I made the inside and outside covers of the recently shared scrap buster idea book. Due to length, I’ve made this into part 1 and part 2, but all the instructions needed to create the different sections of the cover are taught in this video. Thank you for watching and happy creating.

Hi Cori, still creating more ARTISTICALLY TALLENTED INSPIRATIONAL ITEMS than I could have EVER imagined on a KZbin channel. I had 3 smallish reference journals created 1 year ago. These were absolutely busting at the seams. So, I created one using a post office flat rate box. In other words great size!! I've created more today, I cannot fit it all in my current reference journal as I transfered the 3 small reference journals in to the one!!. Therefore, got another flare rate USPO flat rate box and began a very special, "increadably- artisticly- tallented & inspired- Cori reference journal🍃🌷🍃 I can not hardly believe that I found you while browsing for some new items for my soon to be - "FROM HOBBY TO SMALL BUISNESS" I cannot express my feelings currently, Cori, in order to thank you, for turning on your camera and GIFTING me (as I'm 💯% certain -SO MANY other "Me's") with such amazing inspirational tutorials FREE!! Thank you seams so trite however, I sincerely appreciate you. And I can not think of any other way to thank you - except thankyou. Your new subby. Have a wonderful evening. 🍃🌷🍃 I can hardly wait to complete " Cori's Reference journal" and hopefully, find a way to send you a photograph of her.

And I love that custom wooden box holding your glue stick, glue bottle etc. on the side, you don’t happen to have a video that shows that close up do you? I would love to have my son-in-law try to make one for me, unless it was something you purchased. It’s just perfect and I love organization. Cori, I am so glad you mentioned Heat N Bond. I thought I was the only person that used it in my paper crafting. I use it when making anything with fabric but I have started using it when I’m mass making journaling cards and larger tags. It is way cheaper that some of the better glues we use and I get a much nicer, flatter piece.

can you pls explain what art glitter glue actually is...I can't find it....I see the small bottles and nozzle would be great....
@CoriDahmen
@CoriDahmen 2 жыл бұрын
Sure! Art Glitter Glue is a brand. It sells in the US and I know some of my Canadian friends have it as well. Many folks take the big bottle of glue and fill the tiny, clear Darice (and other brand) fine tip bottles. For a lot of people, it is easier to hold and store the little bottles for daily use. The Art Glitter Glue is a water-based, thick-ish, tacky glue. It holds well, dries clear and is the preferred brand by many. Some paper crafters prefer a book-binding, PVA glue, some like the Barely there glue, some Art Gliuiutter, some Reptile, and others like the Tim Holtz collage medium. Lots of choices and there is something for most preferences.

Cori, what is the difference between a button spot and a cluster? Thank you.
@CoriDahmen
@CoriDahmen 3 жыл бұрын
(Saying this sheepishly) there probably isn't a difference for most people. In my mind they are different, though they are used in similar ways. My clusters are generally made with thinner bits of paper, layered up, glued, then sewn and pieces are added in steps. The button spots are always rectangular or square, have one piece of fabric or paper then have lace and a button or three. Similar, but different. At least in my small brain :)

Bonjour et bienvenue! La couverture mesure 6 1/4" par 6 1/4" et les pages intérieures mesurent 6" x6". Mon français est minimal, mais Google Translate pourrait être utile.

While you were scoring the spine you used a term I do not know. I don't even know how to spell it. (sorry) after 42 :36 you said "notice I did not miter these" Can you please help me

A mitered corner is a neat way of finishing the corner of a fabric edge in such a way that there is no bulk in the corners when the fabric is turned under to finish the edges. (It’s a similar idea with anything that would have a bulky corner if left uncut)

This is not a criticism so much as a suggestion. When you talk and are showing us items you move the items around a lot. You shake them and flip them and they are constantly in motion. Could you consider holding them still a bit more. I find it difficult to watch and also somewhat unsettling. Don’t know if this is of any help to you. Perhaps there are other viewers that feel the same. I like your content very much and you are incredibly talented.

Thank you for the advice and feedback. I will definitely try to move slower and be more still 😊

Cori, your work is lovely, and I love what you do, but OMG, you talk a lot, girl! You mentioned the outer covers at 6-1/4" 5 times in 6 minutes (lol). You have such nice ideas. And you didn't use Heat N Bond, but you certainly talked about it long enough, how to use it, what do to, etc. You didn't use it, so why talk about it for so long...don't get your feelers hurt, I'm hopefully just offering tips when you film, I don't mean to be offensive or anything, so please don't take it that way. I love watching your ideas.

I always appreciate constructive criticism, so no hard feelings here. I know there is always more than one way to do something, hence the sharing different ideas and approaches. I douse heat and bond and/or wonder under for this project, but again, options. I've been told that when I say something once it can be missed, that I need to repeat myself. I'm a definite work in progress and I can always learn a new way to share information!

I do have a mix of viewers and try to keep both new comers and long-time crafters in mind. Since this is an idea book, I thought explaining each item might be the most helpful.
