I know after Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, a group of people was collecting all the scrap metal (there was a lot of trash). They made a lot of money. They also helped clean up since there was so much trash.

Lay your sheetmetal the oposite way so it sticks out the back of the trailer that way it WONT fly out

No, as you go down the road, the air will LIFT the front. Remember how a wing works? The FASTER air over the top produces lift! Works the same on the highway...I've had my motorcycle fast enough that the wind picked my helmet up, and it was only hanging on my head by the chinstrap. If I hadn't buckled it, it would have gone flying! Back in my younger, stupider days...AKA "young, dumb and full of cum."
@monkeyjuju7441
@monkeyjuju7441 6 жыл бұрын
That's not at all safe. I'm assuming you're not familiar with that crazy thing called science, so I'll fill you in on a few secrets. First is this thing called air, which doesn't just move front to back while driving, it it basically loops behind the vehicle which would lift the light aluminum sheets up, second is this thing called inertia, which basically is the same thing that makes your head move slightly backwards when you accelerate or forward when you break in a car, the same thing happens to the contents of the car and trailer as well. So with it the way he has it it is simply pushing against the trailer, the other way though it would slowly push its way farther and farther back until wind resistance rips it right out. In short, just tie your shit down secure in every direction and don't leave things sticking out the back of your truck or trailer, that's how stuff flies out and kills people behind you.

Another trick I used is that I let my neighbors know that I bring in the aluminum cans to be sold to a scrap yard. I crush the cans so I can put more cans into one bag. I bring in the cans in once a month and can bring anywhere from $20 to $50 (base on how much I bring and how much it is being sold for).

Yes, But since I have a trailer its a little easier, We empty the trailer of scrap metal and keep all the good metals in the trailer ( Aluminium , Copper , Stainless Steel etc.Once we empty the truck we trow the rest of the good metals in the trailer also. So we end up with the pickup truck empty and the trailer only has the good stuff left.If some of it needs to be cleaned, we trow it back in the pickup box and clean it later to drop it off the next day. Sorting it gets easier with time.

Wow = that great old sewing machine! And lots of other good stuff. One question. When you broke down that grill into parts a lot of ash and unburned charcoal ended up at the end of their driveway where you were working. Wouldn't it be good to sweep that up? Carry a trash can and keep things clean? Good public relations. And would you ever do a video at the recycle center showing how much you actually made?

I've recently got into blacksmithing. Would it be worth smelting a bunch of copper 2 wire back into a copper ingot. I am very new to scrapping and am just wondering if a copper ingot would sell for a higher price than crap wire and shavings. I've only worked with iron so far to make tomahawks and stuff. Your Thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

It's 4:20 and they aren't burning one prior to scrapping? They didn't...and admit to sheet metal almost flying off and possibly killing someone. They started off wrong. In many areas of the US you need to check with local ordinances about dumpster diving. I don't believe there's laws against it...but there are different ordinances that either don't allow it, or only allow it during certain times. Asking a homeowner won't help. Take a moment to go to the town clerk's office. And for god's sake...burn one first.

these rookies need to learn how to have a little respect and secure their load..... not to mention only driving around on trash day is so hit or miss.... gotta supplement with networking with people and construction sites. While im driving around people are calling me to come pick up specific items... can easily make $150 american per day, by myself.... not to mention the motors and cords and other items i save for later breakdown... FYI KZbin, most scrappers you see on here are rookies or part-timers, take everything they say with a grain of salt.
@MrRuber249
@MrRuber249 8 жыл бұрын
I am part-time and that,s how I like it, In my city there is a lot of scrappers and most constructions sites keep all the good metals or have a metal bin and they recycle themselves. In my city I do trash runs, 2 zones , So one is recycling while the other its garbage zone wise. But always one with garbage Monday to Friday so for me its way easier and faster, Nothing sucks more then getting a call to pick up a fridge and its on the 3rd floor of a apartment building, Way more fun to just pick one up on the side of the road. and after scraping for over 5 years I have never lost anything on the road because my load wasn't secure. I do have contacts also for a couple construction companies and a couple garages, but again this video is about garbage runs, Not about starting off and getting a network of construction companies and the likes.
