Don't throw away that cover for the capacitor bank (micarta) or the wafer switch on the front panel. Sell the switch to a ham radio operator. You may even be able to sell the micarta to them too. There's a semiconductor switch next to the small transformer.

5:25 For you as a scrapper there is not much to it and I would agree with that, however seeing it from a maker's point of view that thing is a treasure trove of component goodness. it's nice to see a video like this Ben. EDIT: 10:00 that brownish sheet is called LE Garolite you would be amazed how much that stuff goes for even for a small sheet like that one.

Caps that large and in that number can keep a charge for a surprisingly long time. It's always worth shorting them with a screw driver or the like to be on the safe side.

The chip you're after is not called a DLP. DLP is the name trademark that Texas Instruments uses for TV,s and projectors that use DLP or Digital Light Projection technology. The chip you're after is actually called a Digital Micromirror Device or DMD chip. Sorry about your pet chook. Always liked seeing her in your videos...
