I got the same card from Shaky, look closely at what is pulling the sleigh, it made me chuckle 😂👍 (aha you noticed at the end 😉) Good on you for telling them you weren't unloading in the oil! Not only would that be a nightmare on the mess front but dangerous on the pedals anyway!

I do the same thing. Scrap steel or "shred" as it's called here goes to my local yard. Everything else goes to two different yards 80 miles away one for non ferrous, the other for E-waste. Well worth the drive as they usually pay half again if not almost double as much as my local yard.

I know what you mean about loading steel into bins Ben - it does take more effort than just tossing stuff onto the ground! I've been told some of the yards in Melbourne's north are better payers than Manhari for steel as well! Thanks for this vid 👍😊

Yep there always a levy. sounds like they were paying less than what i got. (few weeks ago...the yard i was at was in bendigo and it was norstar steel recyclers paying 300 a tonne, which even after levys youd still clear an easy 260/270 a tonne and that was as a NON-abn customer. )

great video ben, im in the uk, i took my stuff to the scrapyard today, we only have one on the island. but thought i would share with you the prices of what i got. clean brass 1kg = £3.35 transformers/motors 17kg = £4.42 heavy copper 98% 1kg = £5.20 household cable 42% 14kg = £23.80 lead acid batteries 7kg = £2.10 a total of £38.87 which is a little over 72 austrailian dollars where you are.

this scrap yard tried to rip me off when i sold copper piping, all the guys in the yard said $10 a kilo and every other scrap yard i asked was $10 a kilo, but the cashier only paid me $8 kilo and i had to ask for the $10 a kilo, so beware people.

How does the yard determine how much weight you have per item when you drive in, get a total weight with a full van and then drive out after unloading or are you just getting one, per pound price for everything?

Ben I am in need of cause and gpus. I build custom gaming computers and it try to build them as cheap as possible but with quality parts for great performance. I do this that way so I can pass on those savings to people who do not have a lot of money to spend but with the chip shortage and everyone buying all the gpus for mining and scalping I am at a stand still.
