I just found this video. I love the message you are sending---we don't need all the crap we think we do! I am trying to get back to how I used to scrapbook 20 years ago, only buying the paper and embellishments that I needed a month at a time. But today, we are so overloaded with options! There are kits that we can subscribe to, memberships, new releases every week from one company or another, we can make enamel dots or buy them, we can buy die cuts or do our own, etc. etc. etc. It is hard to turn it all off and just work with what you have. I am also a big fan of getting rid of anything you have grown bored with or that you know you will never use. I love the eye shadow analogy. I gift paper, washi, and stickers to my granddaughters, and I donate unwanted boxes of 12x12 paper to a local mission thrift store. There is no sense filling up my valuable craft room real estate with things I don't love.

I love the idea of keeping an ongoing donate box--lid open and ready! My biggest problem with de-stashing is that I never know what to do with the stuff. Suggestions? I also love the tip about using under-shelf wire baskets. I have several sitting around empty and didn't know what to do with them...until now! Thanks for the ideas!

I like to identify someone in the scrapbooking community who has been supportive or kind and send it to them! You could also give to local charities or schools or churches.

On the way the rabbit hole this morning I accidentally found you ! Am watching this video for the second time. I have scrapping since 2004 and YOU are the first person that has said what I instinctively learned along the way. Something like “ more options stifle creativity “ as my “collection” grew my creativity and actual scrapping slowed down. Almost to nothing .I am in the very beginning stages of downsizing from an entire finished basement to a 10x11 guest bedroom, all this to inspire me to love the stuff I keep. I love to organize and thought I knew all the tricks. But your room has about a half dozen fantastic ideas that I am implementing TODAY! The under cabinet thing for card stock is brilliant ! Love the clear trays, separating the fillers from the journaling cards is so basic but I ‘be never done it that way ( by color) and the palette analogy is so perfect! Sorry to ramble! I’m excited to get in my room today. Still planning the layout, no inches to waste. Instantly subscribed 😀 Thank you.

Hi Beth. This might be late, but if you are reorganizing your room/downsizing your stuff- I recommend watching RTS Scrapbooking with Janet here on KZbin. She has such great, practical advice on storing /organizing supplies. Her organizing videos are older (about 3 years ago) but some of the best guidance I've gotten. She is very chatty, so maybe good to put on while you are working on your room!

Love it! I use a storage container with 4x6 photo boxes labelled with each month and a couple of themes. Being in the Southern hemisphere, the weather items don't align to the US months, so they get moved into the appropriate boxes when I get the kit. I am doing a major purge at the moment and think I need to be more ruthless like you - limiting the size of the containers that things can go into.

Thanks! The shelves are the Kallax brand from IKEA- or do you mean the clear paper trays? Those are from WE R Memory keepers. The clear bins are from TJMax, they're meant for refrigerator organization!

Laura... great video and great tips! I too have been scrapbooking for over 20 years. I used to be a designer for two paper crafting companies and I was awarded many papers, embellishments and supplies. I also used to teach scrap classes at a local scrapbooking store, so you can imagine I have "stuff". I have a hard time letting go of things but your video has inspired me to work on it. I have a large craft room, and have room for lots, but organizing it would be a dream. Can you tell me what to do about the idea magazines, the Cricut cartridges and things you don't use much but aren't sure if you can part with?
@laurawonsik3 жыл бұрын
I totally get it! I would try cutting it down in half? I would maybe put them in a box outside of your room for a certain period of time and see what it feels like without them. If you don't find yourself reaching for them- donate! Less is more!
@janeypumphrey92663 жыл бұрын
@@laurawonsik thank you... I did put them in a big tote about a few months ago, but just about had an anxiety attack when I tried to give them away... I think I will whittle the tote down and see where that takes me. Thanks for the reply :-)

Hi Laura. Came across your video. I enjoyed it because I have way too much to get anything done as you say. Really hit home. I’m interested in your printer. When I looked it up, the description reads it does 4x6 and 5x7. ( I see on your printer it has a 5x7 diagram). It didn’t say it dies 2x3 or any other sizes in the description but does it?
@laurawonsik3 жыл бұрын
Hi! So glad you found the video helpful! Are you referring to the Epson PM 400? I have actually only printed 4x6 on it but I know it can print lots of other sizes. A lot of times I create a template in photoshop of several 2x3 in a 4x6 grid and then just print 4x6 since that's the size paper I have.

how do you like the epson 15000? Do you use it for photos only or do you use it for printable page elements too like journaling cards and labels and things?
@laurawonsik4 жыл бұрын
I love it! It guzzles ink which isn't my favorite.... I use it to print anything larger than 4x6 and yes I print on all sorts of papers- transparency, vellum, fabric, cardstock and photos!

@@laurawonsikLove your crafty space! Thank you for the tour. Would you mind sharing Epson 15000 print settings for transparency and vellum? I have this printer, but can't find information on what paper settings and print settings to select for those papers. Not in the instruction manual. Thank you!
@laurawonsik4 жыл бұрын
@@PM_1937 Yes! So I say plain paper at normal quality-quality basically means how much ink and I want to minimize ink on both so I say normal - you could also try the lowest setting.

Do you ever have a problem with storing your ink pads on edge. Seems like they would leak...
