When I first uploaded this video I had to disable comments after 170,000 views due to so many people telling me I said Mod Podge wrong you can only imagine how over whelming it became I also had so many rude mean comments from people that are just looking to cause pain and hurt. My amazing subscribers were defending me and got the backlash I could not allow it any further.

1. When doing this, make sure you reverse (mirror) the image before printing since it will be reversed when you apply it to the wood. (Reflect is usually the transform tool.) 2. Printers don't print "white" so whatever color the wood is will show through onto the white areas. So this works best with light colors of wood. 3. Deep knots or irregularities should be filled with wood filler then sanded. 4. If you apply a Photoshop artistic filter (like brush strokes) then you can use the top layer of Mod Podge to sort of match the brush strokes in the photo. This will give it a bit of a hand-painted look.

This is amazing! My mom didn't want us to buy any presents this year. She said that with everything going on, she didn't want my brother and I spending any extra money, so she's always talked about this method, and I thought I'd print out my favorite pictures of my brother, Mom, and I and make a couple of these. Having her explain it was one thing, but of all the videos I watched so that I could actually see it being done, this one was my favorite! I LOVE the addition of the vinyl and staining the wood gave it a little something extra. Mine are drying right now and I hope I can get as flawless a finished product as you did, lol. Great job! Now I want to experiment even more!

Crystal Ann , great job! For people who want less knots on their pieces of wood planks. It's best to use a premium wood, such as Maple wood or Birch wood. It's lighter in color and images will show through nicely! Thanks for sharing your artistic video, Crystal Ann!😊

I do the same thing for friends and family and use the Mod Podge Ultra, chalk matte finish and it works the best. It leave no brush strokes and the final finish is excellent.

Hi looks so good, just a little advice though. The technique seals the face of the wood, unless you seal the back of the piece the wood will dry unevenly in doors and it will bow. Would be a pity to spoil a nice project. Regards From an ancient cabinet maker.

You could use painters tape to outline the picture before using the modge podge the second time around to make sure you don't have anything going over your border so will be easier to do the most pause

Will this work with an inkjet printer ? I have seen some videos on here that say it has to be a laser print picture ?

I don't think it will work. I am currently searching for an inkjet print on wood and every video so far that uses such a method was doen with an laser print. But I haven't tried until now with this method.

Paper tip* If you have a LaserJet printer...get some self stick label paper. Peel the label part off first and print on the shiny side of the backing paper. Then after you do the Mod Podge step and it dries, you can basically peel it right off. No water, no rubbing, no mess. I believe they also make special transfer paper, but the labels are easier to find.

actually I just saw another vid where they printed with an inkjet printer....and put it on the wood while it was still wet ..NO MOD PODGE...and peeled the paper off after only a few minutes. BUT you might have to mess with the lightness/darkness of the image OR the density in your printer settings so you don't get TOO MUCH ink on the paper.

I am an old carpenter/cabinetmaker. This is first an observation, and then comment, and then question. Pine like you used is a soft wood, (coniferous), and very open grained. The more you sand it, say 180 grit, 220, and 400, the tighter you will close the grain. Now the question. Do you think coating just the wood with mod podge to seal it, let it dry, and sand with 400 grit, would improve your experience? After it dried you would do everything the same. (This is NOT a critique of your work).

I used to do this same thing on motorcycle tanks. But I would spray clear lacquer from a spray can on both pieces and stick the photo to the tank. After it dried, I would rub it off with water.

you can get one for around $200 or check your local swap sites for a used one I would get the cricut explore air 2. not only could you use it for vinyl you can make shirts paper crafts ect.. hope this helps

Nice job..I wondered how this was done. I dont know what mod podge is in German. Personally I think adding the name and date take away from the antique look. I think making these with pictures of wildlife would appeal to hunters...Radios to radio hobbyist the prospect is unlimited and could be sold at yard sales and flea markets. Hey! I have been so excited to try this...can you tell me why in some areas, the modge podge started to peel up when I was removing the paper? Was I too heavy handed?! 🤦‍♀️ or maybe I didnt put on enough when I stuck the picture down? Please help! 😊
