How to Transfer A Picture To Wood Slices. No rubbing necessary!
Transferring images and photos to wood and other items is a fun DIY that anyone can do. You can make great gifts or even start a business selling items with images and photos printed on them.
The methods most use are either time consuming, messy, lower quality, or costly. Using the RixCanDoIt Quick Transfer Paper is economical, fun, clean, FAST and high quality.
In this video I demonstrate transferring a picture of my family onto a very cheap wood slice.
This paper is called Quick Transfer Paper and is available from:
rixcandoit.com/quicktransferp...
What I used:
===========
White Acrylic Spray paint
RixCanDoIt Quick Transfer Paper
Rubber Brayer
Liquitex or comparable Matte Gel Medium
Wood slice
Wood putty

LASER PRINTER is recommended. This is my QUICK TRANSFER PAPER. There are some tricks you can do to use Inkjet (see other videos I've done), but I use LASER PRINTS with this paper and that is what it is recommended.

Hey I love love love your template for transferring & fixing the wood- don’t forget to pin this comment so it shows up at the very top. I scrolled quite a bit to see this and your paper invention is too brilliant and this advice too valuable to not be seen by everyone :)). I’m so happy I scrolled bc I needed to know about the paper! I didn’t know I didn’t know either lol. I wouldn’t have looked it up so I ferrrshooore would’ve learned not to do this with inkjet the hard way … after trial & inevitable error lol. Going to watch your old videos next- grateful to have found your channel! New subscriber and turning notifications on. I’ll prob be a regular here :]

@@hellohello2024 Thank you. I'm so sorry that you had to hunt for the information. It's in the description area of the video, but I just pinned this as well as you suggested. My oversight as a mad scientist. LOL! BTW, keep watching my videos because in one I show a hack that allows you to use INKJET also!

@@imagetransferswithrix woot woot am looking forward to your next vids! If you have to forget something, pinning a comment is good thing to forget😎. So many of us are using either mobile apps or the apps through smart tvs or Roku/fire stick KZbin all. They all seem to have completely different user interfaces too so on some it’s the comments displayed directly below, on others it’s recommended videos underneath the vid etc. I think they’re running experiments to see which aspects, when emphasized, make the app more profitable. Just my conspiracy theory for the day though don’t mind me lol. But yeah comments mean engagement so they aare almost always the first or second thing noticeably visible . Thanks again for sharing your expertise & taking us through your projects with you! You’re teaching & inspiring SO many people. You’re very personable; you’d be a great professor. You can make better $ on yt though & you can reachwayyy more people. The world needs their creativity fostered and you’re doing just that🌻🙂

After the water putty dries completely run it through the planer again that way you have a very flat surface. PLUS use a paint WITH primer! Rustoleum 2X is far superior to their enamel. I would spray the wood with a gloss clear coat around the edges let dry, mask off for the white. Lay the photo and cut through the masking tape peeling up the interior then spraying. Makes for a professional finish

Very nice video! When it first started and you showed how the wood split, I got to wondering if it was possible to steam or boil the wood and clamp or strap it back into place. Using wood glue to hold it. I've seen videos where they would do this to bend wood or remove hammer dents. Anyway, I have no idea if it would work but that's what went through my head at the time. I also thought you could do this on smaller wood rounds on both sides, drill a hole and use them as Christmas ornaments. Thanks for the video.

& WHAT KIND OF AMAZING PAPER IS THIS &/OR WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT THAN WHATS USUALLY USED....YEA THAT WAS SOOOO AWESOME!!!
@imagetransferswithrix
@imagetransferswithrix 2 жыл бұрын
What is usually used? Regular printer paper. You print on it, glue it, dry it, and then soak it to death and rub rub rub rub rub rub,let it dry to a haze, then rub again, rub rub rub rub, and hopefully after all that wet mess you didn't start rubbing off parts of your image as well. That's the most common way to do it. The RixCanDoIt Quick Transfer Paper, as you see in the video, does not require that. You print on it with a laser printer, you glue it to the surface, let it dry in a few minutes (heat gun or hair dryer), moisten it for 30 seconds, then PEEL IT OFF LIKE BUTTER! It's the better way.

You could always do colored epoxy to fill the cracks. You could make a small serving tray or even an end table top with the colored epoxy. They make exquisite pieces from scraps.

Check out my latest video on doing these wood slices. I've changed things up a bit. I'm always experimenting, so things change. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZnMdYKXjLVghqc 1. Wood Slices 2. Glue (Mod Podge works great) 3. Can of white primer. 4. RixCanDoIt Quick Transfer Paper 5. Krylon Crystal Clear spray (or equivalent) 6. Brayer (the rubber roller) You may also want to get a few sponge brushes.

Instead of putty,you can cut a slice from another slab and slide it in like a puzzle. I’ve done it… turns out pretty good. You need a scroll saw though. However, you did a great job with the putty. I’m a fan 👍🏼 subscribed ✅
