Love this "series" on this 911 Turbo! The step by step process is great. Looking forward to the final product. (New lighting looks great!)

I can give you a VERY GOOD tip to repair plastic. I have used it a few times with good succes. In the back on my car (Audi A6 C5) where the warning sigb is located, there is a flap lid and then you turn it 90 degress to open or close it. The tap there, was broken and I found a solution to repair it and it was easy. Just a little bit of filing/sanding to finish it. Just use 2 simple things. 1: Super glue (the water thin kind NOT the gel type) and 2: baking powder. If you need to build it up, then out some tinfoil on the table, usual I fold a bigger piece like 4-5-6 times into a smaller piece, so its easier to work with and there you can put super glue on one end and some baking powder on other end. Then you dip in superglue first, then powder, then glue, then powder and so on and do a genlte push when you add baking powder. If its like cracket, then put superglue in the crak (maybe open it a little if possile, then pour some baking powder over it asap. With some pratice, soem stuff can be repaired really good. You could find some scrapped parts to pratice a bit on and maybe even be able to sell them after for a little cheaper price, but still functional. :-)

Love the Porsche video. Porsches are so much better than any car. "Note to self. Never, ever... swear to god ever buy a damaged Porsche UNLESS want to be in hell for several months AND and end up with a car of lesser value. I am enjoying your build and seeing how things come apart and sometimes how they don't. I am glad that I am on this side of the video. I like how the roll cage has a kind of male/female Leggo design for tight connection look; and we all like tight connections (if you get my drift). And speaking of roll cage I never hear you mention covering that white elephant in the room with something other paint. color. White = ick! Either a car exterior or car interior color. Any other color... well no option unless you like people staring and laughing at your roll cage. I am just being honest. The quality of the video and content s as always #9 , 10 the best. Hey Lee, it looks like that might be Ben’s short shift kit or a similar product. You can find some of his videos on KZbin and mentions of his product on Porsche forums. The bushings that attach the shifter lever to the housing are metal in this car rather than plastic as they came stock. The plastic bushings (and plastic pivot lever to the left) wear out and cause slop. The numeric short shifter is another solution for that issue, but you’ll already get 90% of the benefit from cables and the current SSK. Also good luck on the adjustment process once the transmission is back in 😂. It’s a bear

@scraplife garage, sooooo I have a 997.2 tt and Im rebuilding the motor on my youtube channel (check it out if u have time) so back to my point. my case halfs are in Illinois being repaired and i should be getting it back in about 5 weeks and then i can start rebuilding my short block and motor. I believe both of us should be done putting our cars back around the same time and we should set up a time and place after we broke in our motors to film a video together 997.1 vs 997.2 my shop is in NY longisland I don't think we are too far from each-other or even we can make a drive out to the tail of the dragon. great work so fare and I love that gt4 too

I enjoy your channel, but really don’t understand the need for more and more horse power. If a 1000bhp was really needed then why didn’t porsche design the GT2 RS with 1000bhp. Focus on the suspension (Ohlins are petty good) and reduce weight. Light weight carpets, lightweight battery, plexy glass, remove the AC, remove the power window, etc and lose about 20lbs 😂. You will have a better car at the end, with less to go wrong.

@@scraplifegarage Yeh, I get it with Mopar Hemis, LS motors and 302/427. But it’s a Porsche, and Porsche with a Flat 6 and having a 1000bhp is not required unless it’s running on a drag strip, (please don’t). Take a look at RUF and Manthey Racing to see what can be achieved without running over blown engines. My old 964 has 291 BHP, it runs so low that it thinks it’s a go kart and has an exhaust system that got me banned from every track in the UK. It’s brilliant 👍. However you money, your rules and most importantly your car. Enjoy 😎
@sutherlacd272 жыл бұрын
The EPA neuters ICE performance from the factory unfortunately. If porsche was allowed to go bigger they would. See the 918 for example...a 1000hp car. I'm at roughly 750hp in my 997.1 turbo right now and I am planning on going with either e85 or methanol injection to get some more in the short term. Then upgrading the stock rods so I can push 1000hp in the long term. At 750hp I daily drive the car. 22mpg+ on the interstate at 80mph, idles like stock, and the power level and delivery through corners is still well within easy control.
