Here is an idea for multiplayer monday: An obstacle course that requires a machine to get you past each obstacle, but not the machine. So then on the next obstacle you need to build a new machine to get you past that and so on. For example: If the obstacle is a gap in the track, then you have to build a machine to throw you over, then you run to the next obstacle and there you have to build something else to lift you or throw you past the obstacle.

I like the idea but I don't think it's as easy as you think. Gap? Launch myself off a spinning tire. Up a wall? Launch myself off a spinning tire or stack pistons. Essentially it comes down to who can cheese the fastest. It would require well thought out rules so that the quick and dirty methods aren't allowed. On the flip side, making the challenges too complicated requiring multiple unique on-the-spot complex builds makes the video too long.

Since the crashes don't happen after restarting your computer but the game files haven't changed one possibility is that it is loaded into a different location in RAM after the restart (due to other programs requiring less RAM or not running at all perhaps). Maybe do a RAM check so see if you have a faulty module if it happens again in the future.

Restarting whenever there are crashing or framerate issues is usually the first thing to try. Shutting down the PC might not work for issues for anyone with Windows 8 or newer. A shutdown now is basically a type of sleep mode as your systems processes, processor cache, and Ram are usually not cleared in a shutdown. Windows creates a fast startup file from before your shutdown so issues can be carried over. Restart is a better option to try over a full Shutdown.

I wish more people knew this it would make their lives easier. But then again who would logically think a restart shuts things down and a shutdown does not. I am so tired of the windows virus I am required to have to use my system. Here is to hoping the SteamOS will finally give us all another option.

I usually hard shutdown my pc when I go to bed which is shutting it down and flipping the power switch off( or unplugging it) then pressing the button a couple times to burn off left over power. Gives things a rest and clears caches

You can clear leftover charge but if you had corrupted data in your working memory, Windows will just helpfully corrupt it again for you on the next boot. The way you clear that is to either do a reboot instead of a shutdown, or hold shift while you're clicking the shutdown option.

the crashes might be caused by a memory leak, which can be fixed by turning the leaks source off, or just reporting the issue to the dev team. Ark had this issue with the sky effects and the crashes happened without any FPS drop. you were patient and did this video, thank you :)

To my own surprise what worked best for me in this one was the simplest dising. The mechanism only used one bearing and a controller. It would scoop it up and underthrough the ball to right under the hoop in to the target.

the crash is caused by exiting the seat in any way, how is that the problem though? i noticed that it teleporting you out of it has a smaller chance for a crash for it to happen, can someone explain why this would crash the game?

I was thinking about a challenge similar to this, but in a "tower defense" sort of format. A bot-generating factory, but each bot generator has a ball receptacle and if a ball goes in one, explosives blow up that bot generator. Blow up the generators and their bots to open access to the end before they destroy the player's vehicle. The player makes a vehicle that can launch balls into the receptacles and some mounted spudguns to deal with the bots. Maybe hide some explosives around the map for players as well, or trade a ball for one at a special place.

I'm curious why you never tried the controller glitch. Set it to 90, but block it from getting there and then release and it snaps to the 90. Heck of a launch. No piston required.

It wasn't very easy, he still had like 3-5 different iterations of the vehicle despite the game crashing and him having to rebuild evrything. Even without the game crashing it's quite time consuming to fine tune the catapult.
