@@ss5gogetal4 well yeah, giving advice to someone implies that the listener is less informed. Plus you never know if talking to an opponent during a match is messing them up. Happens to my friends and I all the time. Should Fatality have waited until asked for advice to give it? Idk. kinda a grey area. Personally I would have asked if my opponent wanted advice first before giving it. I also usually ask for advice when I've been beaten to help me improve.

I would be honored, especially if it's Fatality. I understand the frustration of being criticized while playing Smash, but I also understand how amazing it is to improve when someone better than you shares their wisdom. Especially a dude as amazing as Fatality. Peanut is the kind of dude who will humble himself. He is kind of hard on himself, but doesn't have a huge chip on his shoulder about it. What's I like is he keeps getting back into it when most players would quit or feel hopeless. I would feel absolutely embarrassed to get 3 stocked. I know this from experience. If anything, it's a blessing to receive reassurance while you're being bodied, rather than criticism.

Some fun analysis from someone who is in region with Peanut. Peanut’s style is super defensive, to the point of camping, but Fatality picked up on that and immediately was able to control the pace of the match, move how he wants, and break down Peanut’s usually stout defense. Then when he went offstage he covered an unbelievable amount of options with Weak Knee. Peanut makes an adjustment around game 4 and starts running straight in, which is not his style, as a way of mixing up fatality. Fatality, being fatality, can handle it, and punishes Peanut for trying to do something he’s not as good at. So then Peanut finds a happy medium, and uses Mac’s movement to play at a midrange with Falcon, mixing up approaches and making sure that Fatality doesn’t get any of his combo starters/extenders for free. He also starts to mix up his recovery more, being more aggressive with Side-B to go through knee and going lower as to avoid having his jump caught. This is there he wins those 3 quick games is when he’s able to mix his style with Alternis’ (The other MDVA Mac) style. Fatality ends up making the necessary adjustments, mainly just being unbelievably solid in neutral and reading Peanut’s recovery adjustments, to take the set 10-4, but it’s cool to see all the counterplay between the two players.

@winterlogical
@winterlogical 2 жыл бұрын
@@ShorinRyu74 Would he though? That kind of thing is so hard to speculate about. Fatality plays falcon because he loves the character, loves his move-set, and loves styling on people. He's mained Douglas his entire smash career. As far as I see it, I don't know if he could pick up another character and play with as much heart as he does with falcon. Consequently, I don't see that just picking up a top tier would guarantee top 8s. If he doesn't enjoy playing them, plus he is so accustomed to playing Falcon and upholding the Falcon meta, I don't see it happening. It's like Hbox and Jigglypuff in melee - Hbox can play other characters, but not nearly as well. Something about him specifically with that character makes for the sauce that isn't there with others.
@Derek_Watts
@Derek_Watts 2 жыл бұрын
@@winterlogical Yeah, you might be right. I think we're gonna get to see, though. He's picking up Aegis for ugly matchups and running exclusively Aegis at 4o4s, so he's serious about developing his skill with the character(s). If he starts taking sets off Maister, Kola, or Vendetta in bracket, we'll have a good idea of what he's capable of if running a top tier.

This is an excellent example of how matchup charts aren't perfect. Theoretically I do agree that this matchup is +1 to falcon, but in a practical sense falcon's offstage toolkit plus his pretty read-based playstyle absolutely dominates little mac specifically because mac simply does not have an offstage toolkit that allows a lot of variety. Fatality was often able to set up offstage traps to force Peanut to a particular place, then just wreck him with no possible alternate course of action for Peanut.

I'm so curious how you bring a personal setup to play in between pools and setup a screen recorder, player cams, and mics.. I be forgetting my Wii U gamepad back in the day, and these guys bringing a whole production..
